Unintelligible Hymnbooks???
Aro ke Txesus nomokye ha….
Txesus ohxe esnar ke ha…..
Enyhoru hona kanamyatxhe Txesus ha…
Do you understand any of these lines taken from the Hixkaryana hymnbook? Probably not, however, there is one word you should probably make out…TXESUS. JESUS! To the untrained ear, these Christian songs would sound like gibberish. But to God’s ears, the sound of indigenous peoples singing praises to His name is glorious. Pray for the Hixkaryana people who are planning a conference for a number of believers in surrounding tribes. Pray that they will all have a clear understanding of what Txesus has accomplished by his sacrifice for the world.

Feliz Pascoa – Happy Easter
“If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men the most pitiable.” I Cor 15:19
Pray as missionaries in Brazil offer HOPE to the indigenous people – the Hope that the ressurected Jesus offers to all men.

Baniwa Update
“I tell you that in the same way, there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who need no repentance.” Luke 15:6
Below is a translated paragraph from our Brazilian missionary friend regarding our new Baniwa brother in Christ: Steven. (This is after 3 months of daily chronological Bible teaching)
“There has been a tremendous testimony from Steven, last night at my house. Steven Baniwa was part of the group, like so many of the people, that called themselves Christians. During the last few teaching sessions he always had tears in his eyes, and last night he came to my house; his face was lit up in a new way. He said that he was present at all the teaching sessions and he had felt like the eunuch that had read the scriptures, but did not understand them and needed someone to teach him. He finished by saying, “Now I can say that I am saved without a doubt in my heart. You can be certain that in case we don’t ever see each other again during this life, (Zenilson and family are leaving for home assignment) we will see each other again in heaven.”
Rejoice with us over this new brother and pray for his growth in the Lord. Others have asked to hear the teaching again. Pray that their hearts will be open to the Spirit.

Tribal Trip Update
“It is good to give thanks to the Lord” PS 92:1
Thank you for praying regarding our trip to the Hix tribe last month. It was a great opportunity to spend time together as a family while helping out the missionary team with their construction project. The goal was to get as much ready as possible for the NTM work group coming in after us to build the single gals’ house.
Travel to the village required changing from 4 different boats/canoes.
Bad gasoline caused the motor to stop a number of times in the current, but not in the strongest parts.

Tribal News
This month our mission is rejoicing and praising the Lord for His work among the Manchinere people. Last Saturday veteran missionaries, along with mission leaders, attended the dedication of the Manchinere New Testament. The Manchinere Christians set off fireworks as the boats with the missionaries and boxes of New Testaments arrived.
Another reason to rejoice and to PRAY, is that a 3 month teaching session has started among the Baniwa people. Each day from 7-8am a Brazilian missionary is presenting the gospel beginning with Genesis on to the ascension of Jesus. This group of people has heard the gospel in the past, but have mixed their own beliefs in with Christianity and the clear gospel of Grace is not understood. So our missionary has the great challenge of presenting Biblical truth, while constantly comparing it to what the people presently believe, and showing them that they need to make a choice either to believe in God’s word alone, or not.
Together as a Family Again
We are grateful that we have our two boys home with us for a good part of the summer. Jeffrey arrived from the states today and Danny’s been home from the MK school since Friday.
Please pray: Tomorrow we leave on a 4 day boat trip to the Hix. tribe where we’ll be involved in the construction

Prayer Requests from Indigenous Christians
|
“The nations shall bless themselves in Him, and in Him they shall glory.” Jer 4:2 |
|
Recently we had the privilege of hearing some indigenous believers speak at one of our missionary meetings in Manaus. Here are some different comments from our brothers in Christ. “In the village I am chief, but God’s word has a higher level. Keep praying for us, only God knows how to help us as we need it. People are against the gospel – we still love them.” “I am young but I am committed to the Lord.” (He is a candidate to be a pastor in his village and asked for our prayers.) “I am a child of God, with my focus really strong in God. I really want to do what God wants me to do. I am a son of God. I follow the Spirit of God – I go against the witchdoctor’s beliefs. I am not afraid…In the past I fought with a pointed stick to be able to stab others. I tell you these things so you know I am a Christian so that you will pray for me….Pray for me, pray for us. Alone I do not have the strength to resist these things (witchcraft). I need you to pray for me. (He then asked prayer for his son) Only God can make someone accept Jesus, for this I ask prayer.” Are you seeing what we see? The common theme of asking for prayer. Can you pray for our tribal Christians? …that they may stand strong in the face of opposition and temptation…that those who are language helpers will work well to help missionaries in translation…that spouses and children will come to know the Lord…that there will be more firm leaders in the tribal churches. |

Back in Brazil!

Hello from Brazil!
We praise the Lord for the great trip we had back to the home office, here in Manaus. Everything went smoothly! After opening and inspecting only 2 of our volumes, the customs man told Danny to
