May ‘06
This email update is a bit overdue so we wanted to make sure to get it out to you now that things have “slowed” down a bit . May 19th brought the end of the school year for both Anthony and the Missionary Candidates here. Anthony is now a big fifth grader and is really excited because that means that this year he can “pad up” and start playing tackle football. We will see how that goes? Personally his Mom and Dad would rather him stick with Wrestling as it is a lot safer sport .
As far as the Missionary Candidates are concerned, the training center here graduated 96 candidates this semester. They have headed out from here to begin their Pre-Field Ministry and then plan to head all over the world within the next year or so. It is neat to see God raising up missionaries and sending them out. We feel privileged to be able to be a part of seeing these folks get the training and tools they need in order to be a part of establishing churches among those who don’t have the Gospel or a church in their midst.
The development of the Integrated Program is coming along. We are doing the best we can to see that everything is in place for the first year and then some. Again it is a massive job, the development of which will continue on even once the program starts up this Fall. Please continue to pray for Jay and the Curriculum Development Team as they continue to develop and teach classes.
Speaking of teaching classes, Jay had the chance to get out of the office and board room meetings, and into the classroom to help teach a Church Planting Class that serves as a “wrap-up” for the candidates here. It was fun for him to be back in the classroom for a week and a half working with students as they thought through many of the complexities and challenges in planting a church in a cross-cultural tribal setting.
As far as the church in Inaru is concerned, we have not heard anything from the Inarus for about a month now as Jason has been back here at home tending to his Mom. Word from Jason is that his Mom is hanging in there but she is slowly getting weaker and weaker and he doesn’t expect her to live much longer. Please keep Jason & Toni in your prayers as they tend to Jason’s mom and look to the Lord for His timing in when to return to Inaru. Please do keep the Inarus in your prayers as well. That they would look to and walk with the Lord on a daily basis so they will continue to grow in His knowledge and grace.
Well that about does it for now. Once again, it has been good to share with you some of what has been going on here so that you can be praying as well . We sure do appreciate the time you take in all the busyness to read our updates and to pray for us, the missionary candidates, Jason & Toni, and the Inarus. Thanks for your supportiveness in every other way too. Please do let us know how we can best pray for you. Until we talk again, take good care and God bless!
In His Love, Jay, Lisa & Anthony
