Angie and Ruth Dyck, her grade 12 Trigonometry student

Since the 17th of November, I have taken on the role of teacher at NTMC Academy.  It’s a good starting spot for my teaching career as I’m only teaching one class to one student.  Ruth Dyck is a highschool student at the Academy on campus in her last year.  Ruth knew my background in Science so she asked if I would teach her trigonometry.  That’s definitely not what I pictured I would be teaching when I went to teacher’s college, but I figured since I’ve taken University math courses, I can hopefully teach highschool math! :)

Thankfully Ruth is a great student!  I’ve forgotten some of the geometry skills that the textbook assumes I should know, so Ruth reminds me of the old things and I teach her the new things.

One twist to teaching is that the newest edition of the textbook has just been released and we have a copy.  The is great except for the fact that the answer key is back-ordered!  We have test and quiz answer keys, but no answers for textbook questions.  Right now we bank on the fact that if I get it right and Ruth gets it right, we must be right.  I can also look for similar questions in the old textbook, so that helps too.  Please pray that it comes quickly so we can actually know for sure we’re on the right track!
