God continues to take care of us, even in ways as practical as a home to live in. This winter we are living in a rented house off the NTMC property. This house almost has to be experienced—its ‘character’ is something Angie and I haven’t enjoyed before.
First of all, God’s provisions aren’t always what we expect. Through last winter we were expecting to move into a staff home on the NTMC property. Nothing became available. At the same time as that was becoming apparent, a missionary family that had been renting in Durham advertised that their place was becoming available.
God worked it out for us to live in Durham for at least 12 months. The location is great. We are across the street from the Saugeen River. There are waterfalls at the end of our street that we can see and hear from our front yard.
One of the wonderful things about living in this house is the space. It is an old farm house, with 4 bedrooms upstairs, and a bathroom on each level!
We can get used to that. And we are getting used to the character that comes with an old home. A short walk across any of the rooms upstairs reveals very quickly where the character lies—in the slanted floors.
Nothing in this house is straight, and I bet it has been that way for a while. Upstairs, all the doors have been modified to accomodate the slopes this way and that.
Just don’t try running around the upstairs, you might stub your toe or get winded "climbing" to the other side of the room!
