Us at Toronto MissionFest 2008

While a severe winter storm kept many at home last weekend, Angie, Dennis Easton and myself headed out at lunch on Friday for an evening in Toronto. New Tribes Mission of Canada had a display at Missionfest, and we had volunteered to go help out.

As we arrived, flurries had just started to populate the sky.

We found our place inside about 4pm, and let Frank VanderMuelen go enjoy a much overdue lunch (I think he had supper too, as it was a while before we saw him again).

Although the storm warnings had kept a great number of people from venturing out, we enjoyed visiting with those who did come by the NTMC display. We were able to connect with many that sent their regards to other "New Tribers" that we knew back in Durham.

Although the convention centre was open till 10:30pm, Frank bid us farewell at 9pm, hoping that we would get home before the storm made it impossible (it was good that we left when we did, Frank was snowed in till Sunday morning).

Having grabbed a bite to eat, we jumped on the 401, and abruptly found ourselves in stop-and-go traffic. We crept past several fender-benders and worse. It took us 40 minutes to go that initial 12 km. Once off the 401, we made good time, getting home around midnight.

We thank God for keeping us safe while on the road. We also has a great time learning about what God is doing around the world from other mission representatives, and sharing with others about what New Tribes is involved in.
