We hope you are enjoying spring. We are enjoying the arrival of spring in Michigan, everything is new again and the change is wonderful. Change is in the air for ourselves as well as we anticipate moving back to N. Ireland in July after three years ministering here at New Tribes Bible Institute.
Our original plan was to take up our new ministry in North Cotes, England at New Tribes Mission European Bible and Missionary Training Centre in September. However, since then, our daughter Deborah has found out that she cannot get a visa to stay and work in America. She has been in the States for nearly eight years and has spent just over four years in Northern Ireland on different furloughs with us, so it is going to be a big adjustment for her. Please pray that God would establish her in a job, a home and a new circle of friends.
We realized that Deborah needs somewhere to live as will Lisa and I on our trips back and forth between Ireland and North Cotes. Then Martha and Isaac will finish mission training and college in 2009 and will need somewhere to live. For that reason, we are taking time before joining the team at North Cotes so we can support Deborah in the adjustment and to look for a place that we can call home.
We have begun selling our furnishings and appliances but many decisions still need to be made. Added to that is the prospect of leaving our children and five grandchildren behind who we have so enjoyed these past three years while serving here in Jackson. Will you pray for us in this time of transition for the strength and stamina we need to cope both mentally, physically and emotionally.
We have been privileged to be part of this work for the past three years and will be sad to leave the students and staff here, many of whom have become dear to us. Many of them are going on into the next phase of missionary training and many of them have just caught the vision for missions for the first time. Our time at the Bible Institute has helped us to see how critical it is to equip and establish young people in the interpretation and application of the fundamental truths of the Bible in preparation for missionary work and we want to continue to invest our lives in this aspect of God’s work in and through the next generation.
Just a few weeks ago, Mark and Holly Woodard had the joy of presenting the gospel to the Bagwido people in Papua New Guinea and seeing many respond by faith. Mark and Holly are graduates of New Tribes Bible Institute. This is the reason we want to be part of the NTM training so that young people like Mark and Holly can take the gospel to people like the Bagwido in Papua New Guinea who have never heard it before in their own language.
