James and Diane Gleaves Connecting You to Tribal Missions Another post
Greetings from warm, balmy, sunny Missouri. 
Family – Two weeks ago, our son-in-law was voted in as the pastor of Elmer Baptist Church, in Elmer Missouri! He had been asking the Lord for more opportunities to preach, and God definitely opened the door for him. Here’s a photo of Zach and Amy in front of the little country church where Zach is now the pastor and Amy is the pastor’s wife! I guess you could say our buttons are bursting just a little bit. Luke continues as a chaplain intern at Barnes-Jewish Hospital and continues to press forward for a full-time chaplaincy position. In the meantime, God is using him in the lives of others. Tyler is learning a lot at the New Tribes Missionary Training Center while Shane is finishing up his last year of high school. Shane plans to study at the local community college next year on an A+ scholarship which he earned tutoring at his elementary school.
Ministry - James continues his ministry travels. Recently, he spent several days at Huntington University in Indiana. He met with a number of students with one couple deciding to be church planters with NTM. They already started the application process. James came home exhausted, but pleased.
Another huge praise for us is the opportunity for James to share at another Christian university here in Missouri. This may not sound like a big deal, but James has pursued getting into this school almost since we moved to St. Peters, but for a number of reasons it never worked out. He will go there for the first time in two weeks. In the meantime he is visiting several other colleges. Please pray God will use these trips to raise up missionaries.

Finally an Update!

We’re going to be busy this spring and summer! James has various trips scheduled to California and around the midwest at colleges, camps and churches. In June the Gleaves will gather in Charleston, SC to celebrate James’ folks 50th anniversary. Our big news though, is that I (Diane) won a trip to Colombia this summer with a Christian Radio Station here in St. Louis! I’m still pinching myself and laughing and crying all at once. I am so happy I get to go back to Colombia.
Spring Break
James left on the first day of Spring Break for Southern California to participate in the missions conference at Brea Baptist Church. He gets to see some life-long friends, meet new people and talk about his favorite subject – World Wide Missions. On top of that, he gets to see my sister and her family as well as my mom. Meanwhile, Shane and I get to stay back here in Missouri where it is a bit chilly and rainy. I don’t know why that doesn’t seem exactly fair, but at least we get a week off!

Diane visits Tyler
In early December, Diane was able to visit Tyler in Chicago. Along with seeing the sights and enjoying that delicious pizza that Chicago is so famous for, they got to enjoy “Candlelight Carols”
by Moody Bible Institute’s many music ensembles. Diane and Tyler made some great memories that will last a lifetime.

The Fall Season is Missions Season
October is always a busy month and this year will not be an exception. In the next six weeks I will be challenging Chrisitans to missions involvement at Calvary Bible College, Missouri Baptist University, Moody Bible Institute, Southwest Baptist University, and several churches. I am really looking forward to seeing our son, Tyler when I visit Moody Bible Institute in the middle of October. I will get to stay in his room for Moody’s Missions Emphasis Week. Pray for safe travels and that God would use me to raise up future missionaries to take God’s message of hope to the forgotten people groups of the world.
Health Issues
Thanks so much for your prayers for my (James) health. My thyroid seems to have regulated with medication. It also helps that I have lost about 25 pounds in the past six months. With diet and regular exercise, along with the right medication, I feel much, much better. I am very thankful.
