“Heaven, once attained, will work backwards.” –C.S. Lewis
Sometimes I tend to think that when God says that all things work together for good, in Romans 8, He just means that He takes the bad things in our lives and makes them result in good. This is because I think that I will never, ever be grateful this happened to me and I am always going to be bitter about it. But the truth is that when we get to heaven (and sometimes before we get there) we will look back at even the bad things in our lives and be grateful they happened.
Our time here at the NTM Center has been mixed with many emotions as we sorted through our belongings, saw old friends and visited our Bena friends near Interface. Unpacking crates and sorting through all our stuff… deciding what we should keep, what we should sell and what we should just throw away… remembering our years at Interface… meeting with our old friends and coworkers… Sadness, challenging times, more stuff, dirt, dust, familiar mixed with the unfamiliar … figuring out how to ship our things and starting a new ministry away from our friends here in the Bena… These are just a few things that we have been doing and dealing with and thinking about over the last three weeks here in the Highlands.
It is hard to imagine that someday we will get to heaven and look back on our lives and say, I am so glad God allowed all these things to happen to me, but that is the mystery of heaven.
