“Too old”?

Winter rainbow in the North

                                 A Birthday Story

Moira awoke Jerusha the morning of her second birthday and kissed her. “Good morning Jerusha. Today is your birthday! You are two years old now!”

Jerusha burst into tears. “I’m not too old Mommy! I’m a little girl! Can I be three old?”

Don’t we all feel like that some days? Like we’d rather jump ahead in time and see what that will be when we’re feeling old where we are in life?

It’s been a packed winter for the young Hall family so far…

January saw our oldest son Elisha turning 3 already! He is so grown up for his age, and these years have passed so quickly. We had a great time visiting family and friends on our winter break…(except we were sick up North for a while).

In January, Moira’s grandfather died and we drove out West for his funeral…and came back sick.

After digging ourselves out of the pile of homework we had incurred, we tackled some projects that had long needed attention. Jerusha, our daughter, turned 2 in February (thank you everyone for remembering the kids’ birthdays! In their own words, “It was so nice of them!”)

And then February found us sick again, this time for a week. During this week many things seemed discouraging. But, as Elijah reminded Moira, everything we experience now is only temporary. And if we could see the end of our work in eternity, we would know that it is worth everything we’ll ever give – and more. Every breath, word and deed of ours should aim to glorify God.

Isn’t that true of every Christian? We’ve all been given so much!
