At the airport in Chicago

Picture 1 of 9

After 37 hours of travel and four airport transitions, we safely arrived in Australia where we will rest and enjoy the area for 3 days before departing to PNG.  It’s hard to explain how awesome it was to feel everyone’s prayers.  There were so many cool things that happened and God placed certain people at certain places at the perfect time.  Throughout the airport changes, things flowed so smoothly as He provided these people to direct us down the path the God had already paved for us.  It was a tremendous faith builder!

Yesterday we arrived to the place we are staying around 2:00pm local time.  The kids were so excited about everything they saw.  It is very beautiful here and there are many things unique to this region of Australia that they have never seen before.  So the first few ours they were totally pumped up.  About 4:00 rolled around they were all totally passed out.  We barely could get them up to have a few bites of dinner.  Then sure enough, 1:30am rolls around and we can hear Gracie and Malachi talking as if it were time to get up.  I asked Gracie if she had any idea what time it was and she guessed 6:30am.  Pretty soon we were all up for awhile then we all eventually ended up back in bed (we kind of played musical beds until about 3:30) then got a few more hours of sleep.  We were awakened around 6:30 by something laughing just outside our window.  It must have been a tree kangaroo, wallaby, or some huge bird.  It sounded like a monkey.   (The place we are staying is on the edge of a rain forest here in Queensland.)

Today was great.  Had a wonderful morning and then we went down to the strip along the water in Cairns and the kids swam in the lagoon.  Everyone is napping now and hopefully we can have a fairly normal sleep schedule tonight.  (It’s 14 hours ahead of EST where we used to live in Indiana.)

Dear Bobbi and Drew: Thank you for my personalized letter and I’m certain I’m the only one who received it, so I’ll be sure to pass it on. Thank God you made it safely with your thousand pieces of luggage. It’s fun to see the smiles on all your faces. I have been, and will continue to be in prayer for you guys. What an awesome adventure you’re headed for! I’m certain Our Lord will keep His hands on all of you. Take care of each other, and keep those cards and letters coming! With love, Pam
