Posted by Delwyn and Arielle Griffith on Saturday, April 27th, 2013The blessing of friends and co-workers
Posted by Delwyn and Arielle Griffith on Sunday, April 21st, 2013Over the weekend we had the privilege of visiting our friends Joel, Andi, and their two boys in a neighboring city. It was so quiet there! Almost shockingly quiet to our ears considering we live next to a very large and busy street in a very large and busy city. (No cars, car horns, whistles, foosball being played, kids yelling, babies crying, cats screeching, vendors, horse cart noises, etc.) It gave our senses a time to relax and it was a great change of pace: to visit, play a few games, and allow our kids to play together (mostly with cars since they are 4 boys)—constantly! We also took two new forms of public transportation since arriving—the train on the way there and a larger kind of taxi on the way back. (more…)
1 Year in Africa
Posted by Delwyn and Arielle Griffith on Friday, April 5th, 2013April 2nd marked our one year anniversary here in Africa! Yeah! Statistics show that the majority of missionaries, who return home, do so in the first year. After the first year, the statistics drastically drops. In light of this fact, we praise God for sustaining us through the first year. It is only by his grace that we are here. Now that calls for a little celebration and what made this time even better was that Del’s parents were visiting for a week and a half. (more…)
Where in the West?
Posted by Delwyn and Arielle Griffith on Sunday, March 24th, 2013Pray for direction in what part of West Africa God would have us serve. We are excited to have started the process of figuring out where we will go. We covet your prayers that God would be our guide and that He would have His way in our lives. (more…)
Welcome
Posted by Delwyn and Arielle Griffith on Sunday, February 17th, 2013How exciting to welcome a new missionary to the field. We are thrilled to welcome Mike in our home, help him adjust to life in Senegal, and give our mission time to find him an apartment. Praise God for how HE is working to make HIS name known to the nations as we see him bring new missionaries to the field like Mike.
Making Connections
Posted by Delwyn and Arielle Griffith on Saturday, February 9th, 2013Little voice rise in laughter! Our two year olds are playing, running, jumping, and enjoying the moment. There is nothing but pure joy written across their faces. This is usually the scene, besides normal kid stuff, when our two families gather together for a meal or see each other at church. (more…)
5 Year Old
Posted by Delwyn and Arielle Griffith on Sunday, January 27th, 2013I was joking around with a friend saying that I sound like a 2 year old and he said, “no, you sound like a 5 year old.” Although it made for a good laugh, I took it as a compliment and now have reached speaking ability of a five year. Yeah! (more…)
Five Guys
Posted by Delwyn and Arielle Griffith on Monday, January 14th, 2013No we are not talking about the food chain. Over the weekend we had the privilege of hosting a team of five guys from the Well Community Church who came to visit us for two nights on their way to Guinea-Bissau. What an encouragement to; (more…)
Rejoice in Suffering
Posted by Delwyn and Arielle Griffith on Sunday, January 6th, 2013
Rejoice in suffering! What, rejoice in suffering? You can’t be serious! This is diametrically opposed to my thinking, but read what God’s word says in I Peter 4:13 “But rejoice inasmuch as you participate in the sufferings of Christ, so that you may be overjoyed when his glory is revealed.” I read this passage and was struck with the fact that I certainly don’t rejoice in suffering, especially here in West Africa. This launched me into a study on suffering. (more…)
