Give
Often people are surprised when we tell them we are responsible to raise our own support. We receive funds for our ministry from our sending church, and from other churches and individuals. We are not salaried even serving as Home Office staff!
In faith we look to the Lord for provision of our financial needs, knowing that God has instructed His people to meet the needs of those who are in his service. We have seen many benefits from operating this way. Our dependence is wholly on God to provide for us. Plus, we love to have partners in our ministry! We see reaching the unreached as a mission for the whole body and this is a practical way that we can all use our gifts to expand the reach of the Gospel.
Another benefit is the tremendous cost savings it is to other missionaries. The work we do in the finance office is necessary
to keeping missionaries on the field. If we were not trusting the Lord for our support then those overseas would have to pay our salary, and this would be a huge burden to them.
Our support level varies according to where we serve, what our ministry involves, and how large our family is. Currently our recommended support level is $6450 per month.
Recommended support levels are based on the actual costs of ministering and living at a reasonable level. We are personally responsible for ministry expenses, including costs that are usually part of any employer’s benefits package or are otherwise an employer’s responsibility. For example, we pay the equivalent of the employee’s and the employer’s portion of Social Security. We pay for all our own medical and life insurance premiums, and retirement. We also pay for our ministry related travel and some equipment for ministry. For us, 10 percent of our recommended support level is typically for ministry expenses and 30 percent for benefits and taxes, with 60 percent for personal expenses.
Our desire is to be 100 percent supported and we will be working toward that goal. We are honored and humbled by those who choose to support the ministry God has given us whether it is a one time gift or faithfully over the years. We are always blessed by how God uses people in minsitry.
In order to keep our partners updated on our support level, we will update this page with our average support percentage.
As of January 2012, our average support is 48% of the recommended.
