About
Family
A lot of people ask us why we got into missions, and why with New Tribes. Well the story starts from when we were young. We both
had the amazing privilege to grow up in families that taught us to love the Lord. Rachel grew up in Pennsylvania and David grew up in Michigan. When we were both in High School our churches offered us many opportunities to go on short term missions trips. It was in these trips that we fell in love with serving the Lord with a global view. When David was 14, a teacher of his that was on furlough from Bolivia offered to take him and his friends back to Bolivia. He spent 6 weeks there and was introduced to all the aspects of New Tribes Mission. That planted the seed of Tribal Missions in his heart.
After High school, both of us decided we wanted to get to know the Word of God better and enrolled at Word of Life Bible Institute in Florida. It was right around that time that David decided he wanted to be involved in missions with his life. We met at Word of Life and over the year our relationship flourished. Shortly after graduating from there we were engaged and got married on May 27, 2006. Â
After we got married we moved to Jackson, Michigan to begin our lives together and our training for missions at the New Tribes Bible Institute. We spent the first two years of marriage in Bible School and at the end of that time welcomed our first son, Elijah, into the world. He was born on June 26, 2008.
About a month after Elijah was born we had to move out of Jackson and we went to Ontario, Canada for our next two years of training. It was here that we learned more hands on aspects of planting tribal churches. Once again, at the end of these two years, Rachel was pregnant with our second boy. We moved to Pennsylvania to be with our home church for a year and at the beginning of that time Silas was born on July 1, 2010.
After our year in Pennsylvania we packed up and moved to Florida to work at the New Tribes Mission Home Office.
Ministry
We work at the New Tribes Home Office in Sanford, Fl. Here David works in the Finance Office. It is in this office that we serve the over 3000 American New Tribes Missionaries serving all across the world. All of the support for these missionaries comes into this office and is processed and put into the accounts. We average about 20,000 donations a month. That is around 1,000 every business day! They come in in different ways, by check, Electronic Funds Transfers from donors bank or by Credit Card. David loves helping people be able to partner with missionaries by supporting them financially. Does that sound absolutely mind numbingly boring? It does to Rachel too, but David loves it and really feels this is the job the Lord has given him! Without this office the missionaries serving around the World would not be able to be there. It takes every part of the whole team to get the job done!
