What a whirlwind summer this has been for the Pryor Family. It seems like we just finished our training at New Tribes’ Missionary Training Center in Missouri & arrived here in Texas. Yet here we are this morning leaving Texas & moving to Chihuahua, Mexico for a year of language study!
Nevertheless, it’s been a great summer. We’ve had a great time of family fellowship with our adult kids & their spouses (& new granddaughter!). It’s been a real blessing since our church has a missionary apartment in the church building that’s large enough to accommodate all nine of us.
Our summer has been spent renewing, developing & establishing relationships with our ministry partners (prayer & financial supporters). We’ve been able to spend time with almost all of our existing partners & personally update them on our time in training & our next step toward returning to our ministry in Paraguay. We are so very thankful for each & every one of them. The Lord’s work truly is teamwork, & without our partners we could not serve our Lord effectively in the work to which He has called us.
We began this summer needing an additional $900 in monthly support in order to meet the required 60% support level that the field of Mexico wants all arriving missionaries to have. Thanks to our Lord’s graciousness & our partners’ faithfulness to Him, we are now only $75/month short of our goal!
New Tribes’ leadership in Mexico has told us that we may use one-time gifts or even our own savings to make up the difference so that we may move forward with our training on time. However, from experience, we’re confident that the Lord will bring in the last of the monthly support we need.
We are very much looking forward to our time in Mexico. Not only will we be improving our Spanish so that we may have an even more effective ministry back in Paraguay, but we’ll also have opportunities for ministry in Mexico. We’ll be involved in outreach to the local community, as well as, working with believers in the local churches.
