The apostle Paul pointed out to the church at Corinth that they were co-laborers together with God. …And to that same body of saints, in his second epistle he said, “We then, as workers together with Him, I beseech you also that ye receive not the grace of God in vain” (2 Corinthians 6:1).
It is indeed a great privilege to be regarded as “laborers together with God,” and to be counted as His servants, though unworthy as we are. Furthermore, it should motivate us to be found still laboring with God when Jesus returns, so that we will have, “…received not the grace of God in vain.” The last thing we should want is for God to consider it a waste that He entrusted us to be His co-laborers.
So what has He entrusted to us as stewards of His grace? It is this ministry of preaching the gospel of Christ to our generation. We are therefore charged to handle the Word of God honestly and to not faint in our efforts, seeing we have received mercy for accomplishing this great task ( 2 Corinthians 4:1, 2).
Grace is the incredible, undeserved kindness God shows us through Jesus.
We have been given the charge to work with God toward fulfilling His divine objective. So what is that objective, and by what means has God determined to work together with humans in order to arrive at that objective? Paul addresses this in the book of 1 Timothy, “For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior; Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth. (1 Timothy 2:3, 4)
Upon having founded His institution… having been crucified, buried and resurrected, Jesus sought to prepare His band of disciples to do their part toward fulfilling God’s great plan; He told them they were to go into the outer regions of the world and teach all nations the wonderful purpose of God. They were to preach the gospel of Christ and to prepare people for the return of the Prince of Peace. …And while setting out to accomplish this, Jesus reassured them that He would be with them throughout the end of the age.
We echo those words today in our ministry as mission advocates, bringing God’s people face-to-face with the task He’s given us to do. Our efforts are to see the Reached… GOING to the Unreached. Remember, grace is the incredible, undeserved kindness God shows us through Jesus. Why wouldn’t we want to share this with others???
