Savannah is checked-in for her surgery today and is in good spirits — singing and dancing as usual.
They usually give the children valium to help them with anxiety. No need for Savannah. Maybe it would be more helpful for parents???
We’ve prayed together and Savannah is coloring and watching Animal Planet while waiting for the next step.

Savannah getting an explanation of her surgery on Thursday.
Today Savannah saw a ton of people at the hospital in preparation for her surgery on Thursday.
The eight-plates that were put in to help straighten her legs in 2007 are being removed.
Please pray that everything will go well with the surgery and especially that the screws will be able to removed without complications.

Savannah with the catch-of-the-day.
It’s a workout, but it works. Freshwater fishing from shore in Florida has proven mostly unproductive. Unproductive meaning that there is no fish dinner at the end of the day.
Savannah is still too small to paddle her own kayak, but I now know it is possible to fish from one kayak while pulling another.

Savannah on her first day of Kindergarten
Is that weird — one daughter leaving home and one starting Kindergarten? I don’t know, but it feels weird.
Savannah has had a great start. She loves learning, loves her teacher and loves her classmates.
Praise God for such a good learning environment and please pray that Savannah will continue to adjust well to her new schedule.

Savannah's legs being examined by her doctor.
On Wednesday Savannah was examined by the doctor who performed her surgery in 2007. After reviewing her x-rays and taking a look at her legs, it is clear that her legs have completely straightened and are actually starting to turn out below the knee.

Savannah displaying one of our catch.
It’s not Father’s Day yet, but we did several things this last weekend that would have been good ways to celebrate.
Nearly every good weekend starts out with fishing. OK I’m biased, but Caleb and I caught a decent fish dinner Saturday morning once we discovered that bream were biting and not bass.

Celebrating Savannah Day.
At the end of April each year we celebrate Savannah Day — the day we made Savannah a permanent member of our family. This was the third annual commemoration of her adoption.

Savannah playing on one of the computers in the hospital waiting area.
Wednesday was Savannah’s appointment to follow-up on the leg surgery she had back in August 2007. What we found out was really good news, but it could mean another surgery in six months.

Thank you for all the notes, reassuring us of your concern and prayers for Savannah. The trip went very well, and we were thankful for a relatively cool day because the air-conditioner in our van is out again.
You will be encouraged, as we were, by viewing the X-rays on our Photos page. When you see change over time it is much harder to recognize just how much Savannah’s legs have improved.
