Update – 4.27.11
Dear Friends,
We landed in MO Thursday night through a thunderstorm. Lightning flashed outside the airplane window, huge thunderheads, and turbulence. Somehow, it seemed like a fitting way to end our journey.
Megan stood waiting for us in the garage as we pulled in. Brian, his roommate, Pieter, and our dear friend, Jackie, welcomed us next. It was late… but we were home!! Sitting around the living room, we discussed what happened the day of the heart attack. Brian and Megan chimed in, giving details of where they were when I told them the news and how they processed it. Sleep didn’t come until after midnight.
The next morning we took in the outdoors noticing that everything had sprung to life. We had left when the trees were bare and returned to leaves and blossoms. Even a robin had built a nest in our clematis plant, thinking the house was quiet and vacant. Life was all around us! Beautiful! Very Significant!
We met with our general doctor later that morning. Having read the reports and having heard Dave explain in his own words what had happened April 1st, our doctor just shook his head and said, “I spend most of my time as a doctor downplaying drama so I’m not trying to be dramatic here, but you are a very fortunate man; seriously, it really could have played out differently. Wow!”
Life is so precious! We especially felt the blessing of life this Easter! Dave would have experienced life either way that April morning – all because of what we celebrate on Easter. The significance of our Savior’s sacrificial death for us and His resurrected life is everything!! We have life only through Him! So Amazing! So Miraculous!
We went to see our local cardiologist yesterday; Dave will begin Cardiac Rehab with a consultation tomorrow and rehab three times a week. We continue to appreciate your prayers for us through all of this. We are very, very grateful people!!!
With much love and thanks, Carolyn for us both
“Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.” Colossians 3:1-4
