Training Students for Tribal Church Planting

Students…

One of the great privileges we have is to teach each semester to our great student body! Carolyn has the joy of teaching the “Child Protection” course and I have fun teaching the “Ministry Partnership Development” course.

We love the fact that so much more happens outside the classroom as we get to interact with, disciple and mentor the next generation of tribal church planters.

We ask that you continue to pray for us and these students as they prepare for some of the hardest ministries on the planet.

One day each one will be a part of “Reaching tribes, Transforming Lives” for His glory in a very difficult global context.

Thank you for your faithful prayer and financial supper that allows us to be a part of God’s great work world-wide.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Posted by Dave and Carolyn Meyers in Photo Gallery on Dec 1st, 2012 | Discuss This Post

As we approach the Christmas holidays we can’t help but thank you for your faithful and loving support this past year.  We are so grateful for each of you who have given, prayed, encouraged and helped us in so many ways.  Thank you!

We are looking forward to wrapping up the semester with our student body as commencement will be here soon on Friday Dec. 21 at 7:00 pm.  It should be quite the festive occasion!  These students that we have taught and mentored have finished their three semester program which has equipped them to bring the Gospel to the least reached people around the globe!  May God be glorified through their lives.

Kevin and Haily gave us all a great gift this year when Lucy, our first grandbaby was born in February! Kevin teaches and serves as Spiritual Life Director at Scottsdale Christian Academy. Haily runs her design business from home. (Check out Lucy Darling Shop at Etsy.) We love our growing Meyers family. J  We are looking forward to celebrating Christmas with family and friends as our son Kevin and his wife Haily and their daughter Lucy will be with us from AZ!  We can’t wait…

Brian has transitioned well to MO and is working in the community.  He serves in ministry at church and with our students on campus. He enjoys being involved with Bible studies and outreach.

Megan graduated from HS and will be continuing her education at College of the Ozarks in Branson in January.

George - After 10 years, we recently said good-bye to our precious white Maltese dog – George.  We miss him greatly!  Sniff…Sniff…

Carolyn continues to serve helping our families through the Families in Ministry Dept., focusing particularly on child protection.  She loves teaching in AWANA at church.

Dave has had a challenging year with his health but recently had a great check up with his cardiologist. Leadership, teaching and the development and funding for phase 2 of the campus expansion project keep him busy.  Campus update: ntm.org/mtc

Pray for continued growth and sensitivity to God in our lives as He guides our family and ministry with staff, students, church and community and also our future.

Blessings to you and your family this Christmas Season!

Love – Dave and Carolyn

Lucy…Summer Travels!

Posted by Dave and Carolyn Meyers in Dave Meyers, Family, Ministry, News Article, Photo Gallery, Prayer Request on Jul 5th, 2012 | Discuss This Post

The semester ended with a hectic week of in-service training to an entire staff of 100! Great training took place to help our colleagues with their support raising strategies. Most of our staff will be traveling this summer as families, visiting churches and their ministry partners. Several on my team did the teaching all week, which included a week long video shoot as well. Pray for my colleagues as they trust God to continue to strengthen their partnership teams and see Him raise up further prayer and financial partners.

We had a full house last month celebrating Megan’s High School graduation. Many family and friends in the community stopped by to “congratulate” Megan with a job well done and wish her well with her future college plans. She has now been accepted at “College of the Ozarks” in Branson, MO. She is very excited about these new plans for her college career.

Brian continues to thrive at his new “job and ministry” at Gifted Gardens in Camdenton, MO!  After relocating back home this past January he has been super busy with his new involvement in the community.  He also is involved in outreach at the local “drug rehab” center with the students and a weekly Bible study too.  Of course, there is always time for his daily “gator” runs to the lake and disc golf with his friends.  Carolyn’s sister Krista also relocated near us and is living with her mom.  She has also taken a job at the same place as Brian and is doing really well.  Pretty remarkable after living in WI for the past 40 years.  We are grateful for the continued positive transitions for them both.

July arrived with a huge heat blast across the country…and our kids visiting from AZ. Little 4 month old Lucy arrived at our home in the Ozarks and it was a thrill to have her for a week. Of course the week flew by and they were headed home before we knew it. Our son Kevin called after he arrived back to AZ stating that it was hotter here at the Lake of the Ozarks than in AZ! :(

Carolyn and I will be traveling up to our home church area of Kankakee, IL this month with plans to speak at Grace, visiting friends and donors and spend some time with family. If you would like to get together for coffee or a meal please let us know as we would love to see you while we are in town.

This day last year I graduated from cardiac rehab.  1 year later – I have not missed a week of workouts, eating right, taking meds. Have had a personal trainer now for 6 weeks. Feel great. Looking better. :)

Thank you for all your love, encouragement and prayers.  I could not have done this without your support and God’s most gracious, kind and loving care. It has not been an easy year. There have been many peaks and valleys. Yet, God has sustained me. My family has been so loving and Carolyn has been my rock.  Grateful!

The fall is already shaping up to be quite the busy conference and travel time for us both. We will be teaching on campus and attending several out of state conferences and meeting with other potential ministry partners. Thankfully some of our travels will take us back to AZ this fall.

Thank you for your continued prayers and financial support. We deeply appreciate your faithful care for us as a family and our ministry together with you. What a thrill it is to train the next generation of tribal church planting missionaries. We could not do this without each of you.  Pray for us as we prepare for the new class arriving in August.  All 3 of our training campuses need an increase of students this coming year!

Summer Blessings, Dave and Carolyn Ps. 91

Complete…

Semester is done. Commencement is over…students are gone. The celebration was wonderful with great speeches by Abbey and Taylor. Pastor Cliff gave a great word of encouragement and challenge to all and the music stirred our emotions. There is one last event with our staff in-service training next week and the final wrap up for the semester!

It has been a hectic year with many challenges and great blessings.

Megan graduated from Camdenton High School and is now working with great anticipation for college in the fall. She hopes to attend Biola University but it will take a miraculous provision from the Lord for her to attend.

Thank you for your faithful love, prayers and financial support that allows us to serve the Lord at our Missionary Training Center here at the Lake of the Ozarks.

Blessings!

Partners…Progress

Praise God for the Olive Branch church partners who helped install the walls of our new campus building this week!

Once completed this building will be a great tool to help us train the next generation of tribal church planters world-wide.

Thank God for what he is doing here on the Lake of the Ozarks…through His people…equipping others to bring the life changing Gospel message to isolated people.

Thank you for your part that enables us to be a part of what God is doing here on the Lake and around the world.

Grateful and blessed today!

The power of 1…

Posted by Dave and Carolyn Meyers in Photo Gallery on Feb 16th, 2012 | Discuss This Post

Martin Luther stood for truth over 500 years ago and translated the Bible for the common people of Germany! Carolyn and I had the privilege to visit the place where He spent his time working day and night to see this happen. We are thankful he did this translation as we have God’s word in our language today. This is why we equip others in training the next generation of church planters so they can bring Gods word to least reached people groups too.

Thank you for your part in praying and giving so we can go and train others to go in our place. God is still bringing His light and life of the word to remote villages and changing lives today.

Ignite!

Team teaching with co-workers Adam and Laura this week was sweet. Canadians, Aussies, Koreans and Chinese…along with Americans trained to share their vision of ministry for the Gospel world-wide.

Strategies were prayed and planned for throughout the week. It will take a team.

Pray for these students and staff that a new fresh passion for the Cross will be ignited in their hearts!

Merry Christmas!

Ministry Time: On Dec. 16 our Missionary Training Center will celebrate the graduation of our missionary candidates. These students have been involved in an intensive 3 semester program which has equipped them to bring the Gospel to the least reached people around the world. God answers prayer and continues to send out servants into the harvest. Thank you for your love, prayers and strong support that allows us to serve the Lord at our training center as we continue to equip the next generation of tribal church planters world-wide! We could not do this without your support.

What some of our missionaries say about the training they received from us here in NTM.

“Tribal church planting is not something we could have just figured out to do on our own. We got the essential tools necessary for doing cross-cultural church planting in areas with no written language. Without this training we would be still spinning our wheels today.” (Rich and Karen Brown serve in Indonesia among the Moi people group)

Family Time: Kevin and Haily celebrated their 1 year anniversary in Oct. and are now expecting our first grand-baby this Feb! We love our growing Meyers family. :)

Brian graduated from Shepherds College in June and is doing great. He is now employed by the college in their student life dept. helping mentor students.

Megan continues to bring us joy with her bubbly personality. She is a senior graduating this May and making plans for college.

Carolyn works hard with the MK Care and Ed. dept. She focuses specifically on child protection. She and Megan enjoy serving in AWANA.

Dave has had a challenging year with his heart attack and recovery! His leadership, teaching and development of the overall USA training and the campus expansion is exciting.  This will be a special Christmas together knowing that things could have turned out so different.  Thank you God for the gift of life!

Prayer: For continued good health, growth, sensitivity to God in our lives as He guides our family and ministry with staff, students, church and the community.

Give: We are grateful for your faithful prayers and financial support. All year end gifts can still be sent to our FL home office at – NTM 1000 E First St., Sanford, FL 32771 or made online at: www.ntm.org/dave-meyers/give

Thank you for your love, care, prayers and support this past year.

May you have a very Merry Christmas!

Protecting Children….

Posted by Dave and Carolyn Meyers in Photo Gallery on Oct 17th, 2011 | Discuss This Post

“What factors in ministry in a remote location could contribute to child abuse occurring? What strategies can you put in place so that you are not vulnerable?” These are a few of the questions Carolyn presented in class for the students to discuss and work through in their minds and hearts. These are important issues to consider in the complex world of missions that many people don’t think through.

Effective ministry worldwide is much more than just learning language and culture and presenting the Gospel. There needs to be holistic training and other strategies implemented so teams of cross cultural workers can effectively accomplish their goals in remote areas of the world.

Pray for Carolyn and her child protection team as they help prepare the next generation of church planters!

Pray for the students as they consider this area of their training.
