A bittersweet day

Posted by David and Kim Field on Sunday, May 20th, 2012

Today was a bittersweet day for us as it was the Senior graduation.

We are very happy for this group of 63 students as they have studied hard in these 2 years, grown in their relationship with the Lord, and are now on their way to serve the Lord wherever they go.

But at the same time it is hard to make friends and then see them go in 2 years. I think it is especially hard on Reece & Clark, who are starting to understand that friends come and go quickly here. We hope they will continue to reach out in friendship with the students even with the mindset that this community they live in is always changing.

The graduation today was very special, and God honoring. Please check out the photos below.

2 more days!

Posted by David and Kim Field on Thursday, May 17th, 2012

Only 2 more days until the Seniors graduate! Many parents, friends and family are already arriving from across the country and there is a lot of excitement around here! It is great eating in the dining hall and meeting many new people.

Students packing their cars

The students have been busy cleaning, packing up, and getting in their last minute fun with their friends.

Today Reece, Clark & I took care of a couple little boys whose parents needed the extra time to pack up their apartment. It was a lot of fun, and our boys loved entertaining!

Our Clark

Our Clark

We had a super special day on Sunday celebrating Clark’s birthday.  Since Clark was born on a blizzard day, it was appropriate that on Sunday we had a hail storm, and then later a beautiful lightning storm! Awesome memory makers!

We spent the day playing games, eating fun meals, laughing, treasure hunting for his presents, and being at home as a family for the day.

Clark’s favorite was his pocket knife from Daddy, which he has been waiting for since Reece got his 4 years ago! And like Reece, Clark cut himself within the first hour. :)

Clark adds so much fun, comedy, love and laughter to our lives!

Our boy is reading!

IMG_4558This a bit of our family news…

Clark picked up a book this week, and fell in love with reading!

I have had the great opportunity of homeschooling Clark (2nd grade) this year, and helping him learn to read. Up until this week I was always his motivator to read, but suddenly now he has jumped into reading all by himself. This is super cool to us!!!

time to think about September

IMG_3864The Lord has allowed us to find 2 super public schools, a middle school and elementary school, for our boys for the Fall.

These schools’ emphasis is Science, technology, engineering and math, with hands-on learning in labs. We think these would be good environments for our boys, so we have registered them. The problem is that so have a thousand others. :)   On February 4th there will be a name drawing for the few spaces available, and we will see if we get a phone call.

Please pray for us to make wise decisions for the schooling needs for each of our boys.

Clark was very happy to make bread pudding because he knew one of the students was coming to our place and he wanted to share his yummy dessert.

A storm to remember

I can FLY!!

I can FLY!!

This sure has been an amazing, far-reaching storm!! This old ntbi building sure has been feeling the power of the wind as we sit here on top of a hill!

The kids made plastic bag parachutes and jumped off the hill into the howling wind, and they actually felt a lift!!

IMG_1757-1Reece & Clark get to see the students doing their campus ministry every day, and now they are wanting to get involved too!

They came up with the creative idea of knocking at the married students’ apartments and serving them by hauling their garbage out to the dumpsters.

Today they raked quite a few bags of leaves, and they noticed that the passerby students were very grateful! (to see their Saturday may be free after all?) :)

IMG_1645Today for Geography class in  homeschool, our boys got to join the students for chapel where there was a missionary presenting the country he and his family work in.

They had a great slide show, explaining clearly what the Lord is doing among many people groups over in that section of the world. It was exciting to hear stories of the Lord changing lives, but aslo realistic about difficulties in learning the language and culture and sometimes feeling progress is slow.

This was another opportunity for the students to see NTBI alumni at work, and to see where they themselves could be headed one day.

We are thankful our boys have many opportunites to be exposed to world missions.

Do you want a baby squirrel?

"Mom, please may we keep him?"

"Mom, please may we keep him?"

Reece & Clark got an AWESOME science class in homeschool today!

Nette and Abigail brought a baby squirrel to us that needed a home! While they were figuring out who next could be the owner, they allowed our boys to pet it, try to feed it, and help give it water. I’m so glad our boys had such sweet teachers who made learning so fun!

IMG_1324My name is Clark, and I like to be homeschooled. It is fun. I’m learning cursive. It’s not too easy. Our school is called “Field 4 Learning” school because all 4 of us will learn lots of stuff this year.

IMG_1139Besides the staff children who are around for the Summer, there are also a few student families who stay here for the Summer. This week Reece and Clark invited the boys their age over for cake, football and dodgeball, and they all had a good time.

Bye Daddy!

Posted by David and Kim Field on Saturday, May 22nd, 2010

IMG_8476IMG_84782nd Reformed Church in Marion, New York graciously invited Dave to come and speak this Sunday!

Dave is very excited to present what God is doing among the unreached peoples of the world.

He also has a wonderful opportunity to speak to the church’s young people, and he hopes to challenge them to come to NTBI to prepare for missions.

Our boys understand that our family is a team, and by letting Daddy go, they are serving the Lord, and sending their reward on ahead to Heaven!

Our whole family went to see him.

We all liked it.
