A Joy to Celebrate Easter Together in the Village!
A warm village welcome for Norbert and Michaela, new missionaries visiting the village with Dave as part of their orientation program.
First, preparations for Easter begin with gathering from the garden on the mountain.
OR gathering from a garden up the river.
Then gathering together for a service together
Dave shares from the Word in celebration of our Risen Savior.
What a blessing to fellowship together in the Word of God!Worshipping together with traditional songs
After the service the women bring the Easter meal for the men to divide among the family groups.
At last it is time for everyone to dig in and enjoy the meal together.
Enjoying some of the pig meat cooked in leaf bundles on hot stones.
YUM! RICE! A wonderful treat, especially for the children!
Saying good-bye after an encouraging time together.
Traveling Home again
This morning Dave will be traveling out of the village by helicopter and then a Cessna 206 flight on to the Island’s regional supply center. Tomorrow he will be taking a commercial flight back home from there. We have been staying in touch via radio for the last couple of weeks and there is great news to report. What a blessing to see God at work in the local church!!
Please be praying for Dave’s travel today and tomorrow. Weather is always a factor in the Island’s Region of New Britain and connections are always a factor when flying locally. We look forward to sharing more details and news with you soon.
Engcouraging News from the Village
Dave passed a message on from the village yesterday via radio. He had the opportunity to spend a couple of weeks in the village and it has been exciting to hear what God has been doing there. Over the last couple of years we have been asking prayer for discipleship in the church, as well as, outreach opportunities. Praise the Lord he has been working in both areas. In the last nine months the more experienced Bible teachers have been discipling some younger men as they have taught Creation to Christ Bible lessons to a group of children, teens and a couple of men that have been waiting to hear. A number of the group trusted Christ as Savior and just recently were baptized as a public testimony of their faith. What a blessing to hear what God is doing in the Ivanga church!
This weekend the church will be celebrating Easter together to remember the death and resurrection of our Savior! Praise the Lord for the work He is doing among the Ivanga to build His church!
Dave’s latest travels

Dave’s recent trip to the Sepik Province to meet with missionaries there to encourage and help with safety concerns.

World War II memorial site in the Madang Province. Dave viewed this while traveling in this area to meet with missionaries.

The beautiful bay in the Sepik Province

The view from the mission center. A gorgeous spot.

From one angle in the town the Yacht Club and….

just behind Dave was the local wharf. A very busy spot in this part of town.
Our Family Trip to the Falls

Recently our family had a great opportunity to visit and encourage a family during their language and culture orientation in a nearby village. After we picked them up along with some friends from the village we spent the day together at a local waterfall. It was a great day for all of us.

Is it safe?
Go Dave!

Yes! She did it!!

There goes Caitie!

Come on Tristan. Just jump. It will be OK.
Like this. See!
Will he jump?
Yes! He did it!
The end of a great day.
October 2010

As part of Dave’s job, he recently traveled to Port Moresby and had an opportunity to tour the Parliament Building while he was in the city. It is a beautiful building celebrating Papua New Guinea.

As a part of school, Anna has had the opportunity to receive an introduction to the medical field through the mission medical clinic. Here she is working with the nurses in the lab. (left to right: Michaela, Chrissy, and Anna)

Anna put a cast on one nurse’s arm so another could learn to cut the cast off. They have great opportunities to learn and lots of fun!

During the recent school break, Tristan and some of the teens worked to improve the children’s playground at the mission center.

Caitie's Evacuation to Australia in July
In July Caitie fell in our new home onto the cement floor. The hard hit to her head caused a concussion and after being evaluated here by our medical staff, they strongly recommended that she be taken as soon as possible to Australia. She was emergently flown from our mission center to Cairns, Australia where she could have a CAT scan and be observed for any possible complications. We were so thankful that the Lord protected Caitie during that time and she was released the next morning with no need for further care. Dave and Caitie remained in Cairns for a few days while they waited for the paper work so they could return to PNG. We sure appreciate those of you regularly praying for our family.
