Coffee and computers don’t mix
Woops. She set her coffee on her desk beside her laptop. She turned to speak to a guest, and when she turned back around, she caught the coffee cup and knocked it over, flooding her computer.
This happened to one of the ladies at the Mission’s home office today. They brought the laptop to Dave, and he did all he knew to do.
-
- • He wiped it off.
- • He carefully unassembled it.
- • He dried it out with a blower.
- • He wiped off stickiness.
- • He reassembled it.
But it looks like the touch pad is fried, and maybe a circuit board. The mother board was OK, so her data was rescued.
A full day of work, and no final solution yet. Tomorrow is another day. Pray for Dave to be encouraged, even in times such as these when it feels like he didn’t accomplish very much.
Teens study Creation to Christ
Tom asks, "So how does this relate..."?
Our son, Nathan, has been part of an “NTM and Friends Youth Group” for four years. We host the kids about every four weeks. Friday night, we hosted, and about 25 kids attended.
Their current study is Firm Foundations: Creation to Christ. These kids are mostly MKs (Missionary Kids) who have heard

Find us faithful
Our son, Tom, took a phone call today at his work with NTM’s Associate Program. He identified himself when he answered the phone, and the caller went on to explain why she had called.
As the conversation progressed, she asked, “So you said your name was Tom Brendle. By any chance, was your father a pastor in a little town in Virginia?”
Tom replied, “Not my dad. But my grandfather, Raymond Brendle, pastored a church in Berryville.”
The caller exclaimed, “That’s who led us to the Lord!”
As they talked, she said that she remembered Dave and his brother and sister as teenagers. Connections…. They are all around us.
Thanks, Grandpa Brendle. You’ve been in glory for nearly 16 years, and today we were again reminded that you were faithful!
Out with the old; in with the new
We designated that memorial gifts for Joy go to the Kindergarten class at Lake Monroe Christian Academy. Joy spent one morning a week in Mrs. Schake’s class for eight years. She loved the children, and through her presence, they learned to love someone very different from themselves. Mrs. Schake decided to use the gifts to purchase new chairs.
Warm fall colors and fellowship
Dave and Ruth returned home Monday night from a quick trip to Michigan. It’s been years since we have seen Fall colors. So refreshing to us.
But the highlight of our trip was reconnecting with friends and supporters.

Spicy salad and sweet fellowship
Shirley, Bill, Doug, Jan and Ruth
It was a power-lunch!
Bill has been the artist for our chronological revision project and other chronological projects, but I’d never met him. So when he and his wife, Shirley, were going to be in town, I invited them and several others who work closely with him for lunch.

Check the checklist
The Computer Department began the week scrambling to figure out who would do computer set-ups, now that Paul, who used to do that, is with the Lord.
As a temporary measure, several from the Department are covering Paul’s job. As one has time, he does what he can

Life is a Vapor

NTM’s home office had its annual retreat this past weekend. On Sunday morning, we gathered at 8 to sing and have testimonies. Just minutes after this picture was taken, the gentleman under the umbrella was with the Lord.

Pray for a favorable decision
We have life insurance through New Tribes Mission, with a dependent child benefit. We were hoping to use this policy to cover Joy’s funeral expenses as well as other short-term expenses associated with her death.
Today, we recieved a response from the insurance company that we should have reapplied when Joy turned 20. We had not done that as we weren’t aware.
The company has sent the case to be reviewed with their policy board. Please pray for a favorable decision.
Thanks for your prayers about this, and also for your prayers for us as we adjust to life without Joy. God is our source of comfort and peace, and He is the supplier of all we need.
