A redfish caught while kayak fishing January 28, 2012.

I’m sure you’d like to see my Fishing photos, but the main purpose of making this post is to test a WordPress plugin we just added called FB Photo Fetcher that imports Facebook albums to blogs so New Tribes missionaries only have to upload their photos once in order to share them with their ministry partners.

Katrina and Caleb in Wisconsin

Four of us set out on Tuesday afternoon, around 3:00, on a 24 hour journey to the New Tribes Bible Institute in Waukesha, Wisconsin. We arrived at the Bible School on Wednesday around 4:00. We were very happy to see everybody and everybody was very happy to see us. We hung out with people until dinner that night and played some volleyball and card games afterwards.

Caleb is in his Junior year of High School.

Caleb’s assignment for English 3 was to write a response in Anne Bradstreet’s point of view to Hester Prynne. Hester has a daughter outside of marriage in Nathaniel Hawthorne’s 1850 novel, The Scarlet Letter.

Caleb is able to attend all his classes online through Florida Virtual School.  This allows him to work part-time at David’s office and manage a website for a small real estate business.

On Friday, October 22, a group of friends and myself, six in all, left Florida on a 24-hour one-way drive to the New Tribes Bible Institute campus in Waukesha, Wisconsin. I slept a total of three hours, which was considerably better than some other people on the trip.

Caleb, the Entrepreneur

Working from David's office.

Working from David's office.

Caleb has been looking for work, a paying job, for a year. I think he was kind of discouraged going into this past summer.

He caught a break when he got to help Katrina with her job and actually list some books for Amazon. Then that work dried up because Katrina really needed all the work she could get to pay for Bible School.

Caleb is now 16!

Caleb is now 16!

The celebrating of Caleb’s 16th birthday started in the usual way — with David and Caleb leaving on some kind of outdoor adventure.  This time it was to a spring-fed river in the Ocala National Forest.

They camped wilderness style with a few modifications so they could spend the most amount of daylight on the river.  In the afternoon of Caleb’s birthday they came back, cleaned up and put away all the gear and spent the rest of the day with the family.  The rest of the story contains the photos.

Caleb and I went kayaking in the Mosquito Lagoon Saturday morning. Fishing was tough with lots of bait fish and not many predators. We did see a lot of dolphins and actually had one get tangled in my line. It shot toward me like a torpedo, swerving just a couple feet from my kayak where it surfaced.
