I’ve reached 62% & Going to Mexico!

We are heading for Mexico!

Two weeks ago I wrote you an email letting you know how far Amy & I were away from heading to Mexico. Within one week of us praying together for my support, I got it all plus some more! Here’s how it went. Each day, my support went up a bit, some days by a lot, others by a little. But each day it went up. Then on Monday I went past 60% & reached 62%! Tuesday Amy & I found out that we need to get to Texas on February 24th! Wednesday & Thursday I started to tell some friends & let things start soaking in – Amy & I are moving to Mexico! Now I’m starting to plan for my last few weeks in Oregon & travel plans on the way to Colorado. I’ll be leaving Oregon on February 18 or 19th, arriving in Texas on February 24th, and entering Mexico soon after!

It is so amazing to me at how quickly my support went up! It truly is a huge answer to our prayers for these last two years. And it’s an answer at how faithful God is to us, just by listening and responding to us according to His plan & will!

Here’s what my current checklist is looking like: praying, taxes, Mexican car insurance, packing, saying goodbyes, planning for the road trip, praying, getting things fixed on my car, a dentist appointment, and of course there will be some more things that will get added to my checklist!

Thank you to all of you who have been praying for me as I’ve been working on heading to Mexico, and for some of you it’s been almost 2 years! I am so excited at how God has worked through friends, family & believers that I’ve not met to provide for both Amy’s support and mine!

Thank you so much for your prayers. If you have any questions, please let me know!

Heading to Mexico,
Crystal

Almost Ready to Go to Mexico!

Dear Friend,
Here is a my update for the month of January!  Let me know what you think!

::Mexican Host Church: Assigned!::

These two pictures are of my future pastor & church family in Mexico!  Once we arrive in Chihuahua, we have the privilege of bonding with the Mexican culture & Spanish language, and what better way than with them!  Amy & I are really looking forward to this new opportunity to spend a whole month with only our Mexican host family & church.  This will help us in bonding more with our Mexican neighbors & friends.

53 percent ::Support Tracker::

Amy & I are so close to being ready to head to Mexico and we are continually in awe at how God works through us the prepares us for this new journey!

We have both passed the 50% mark!  Amy has reached 54% & I am at 53%.  Once we reach the required 60% – $1900 – we can plan to leave for Mexico!  If Amy receives 20 financial partners at $10 a month & I receive 22 financial partners at $10 a month we could head to Mexico!

I know that by now you are exhausted & tired of hearing about the support that we need in order to head to Mexico.  This is currently the “obstacle” God is allowing in our lives!  While we would love to set a “leave America by” date, but we cannot until we reach 60%.  There seems to be no special formula or set checklist during our Partnership Development time, but prayer & faith in Him to follow through.  If you have any questions, please let me know.

::Prayer Requests::

- Patience as I wait for God’s timing to send me to Mexico

- My Mexican Host church & family as they prepare for us to come!

- Please pray for the last $220 to come in!

- As I continue to help out with the Awana program with my church

::Praises::

- God has risen my support level to 53%!

- That God continues to supply my needs

Here is another devotional that I read this week!  I thought that it was a good reminder as to why we have "rests" in our lives, and how God knows how the whole song will go!
::Streams in the Desert Devotional::
January 22

He withdrew…to a solitary place. (Matthew 14.13)

There is no music during a musical rest, but the rest is part of the making of the music.  In the melody of our life, the music is separated here and there by rests.  During those rests, we foolishly believe we have come to the end of the song.  God sends us times of forced leisure by allowing sickness, disappointed plans, and frustrated efforts.  He brings a sudden pause in the choral hymn of our lives, and we lament that our voices must be silent.  We grieve that our part is missing in the music that continually rises to the ear of our Creator.  Yet how does a musician read the rest? He counts the break with unwavering precision and plays his next note with confidence, as if no pause were ever there.

God does not write the music of our lives without a plan.  Our part is to learn the tune and not be discouraged during the rests.  They are not to be slurred over or omitted, nor used to destroy the melody or to change the key.  If we will only look up, God Himself will count the time for us.  With our eyes on Him, our next note will be full and clear.  If we sorrowfully say to ourselves, "There is no music in a rest," let us not forget that the rest is part of the making of the music.  The process is often slow and painful in this life, yet how patiently God works to teach us!  And how long He waits for us to learn the lesson! – John Ruskin

Christmas 2009

xmas 2009

Merry Christmas to y’all!

Home for Christmas!

With my plans coming together for moving to Mexico – possibly in February – I am blessed with being able to stay home for Christmas with my family.  Last year my family was altogether, but this year my brother won’t be around.  He’s currently overseas until March or early Spring.  But my parents, sister, sister-in-law, and two of my grandparents will be together!  We are excited to just have a laid back holiday with each other.  Right now it’s time to go over to Mom & Dad’s for dinner & presents with the grandparents.  I made cranberry sauce (for the first time), pumpkin/cheesecake pie, and sweet potatoes!

God’s Perfect Timing

Amy Heckman & I are very close in reaching the required 60% monthly support level.  Amy has reached 54% & I’m at 52.6%!  How cool & amazing is that!

We received an email last week that we have a church to connect with once we reach Mexico.  They are excited to meet us & praying for us!  What a blessing is the body of Christ!

This last month we also learned that Glenn & Teo Urquhart – the missionaries whose house we were going to live in for two years – won’t be able to leave Mexico until Summer 2010.  That means that we will be getting a different place than what we were expecting.  Amy & I are looking forward to seeing how God will provide for us with another place to live in a different neighborhood!

We are also looking to God to see when & how He will be providing the last part of our monthly support.  We are both less than $235 away from our monthly goal!  Exciting!  We are so close to being able to head to Mexico, but we will need to reach 60% before we can set a travel.

I Praise God For…

  • my family
  • the opportunity to serve Him wherever I am
  • the constant provisions in my life
  • all of my prayer & financial supporters

Please Pray That…

  • my brother will be safe
  • the last $235 in monthly support will come in

I want to wish you all a blessed Christmas & a Happy New Year as we continue to remember Christ every day!

October 2009 - 141 October 2009

The month of October was quite exciting with the leaves changing colors and with a few flakes of snow here in Eastern Oregon.  It was also a month in which I was sick quite a bit.  After my trip to Florida and Louisiana, I was a bit worn out, and was hit with some sickness.  And then last weekend I got the swine flu, but I survived!  Now I’m feeling pretty good, just in time for a trip to Denver, tomorrow!
