Rachel with Niece and Nephews Niece and Nephews

The Lord blessed me to be able to travel home for a bit this summer and spending time with our churches, family, and friends has been so encouraging for me. God beautifully orchestrated the timing and details of the visit. I had some minor surgery and recovered quickly without any problems. Shared in churches in Lousiana, Mississippi and Georgia and helped with a VBS in Georgia. And spending time with family has been incredible as well. I am almost ready to return to Mexico and restart my Spanish study! My New Niece - Addison Lynn New Niece – Addison Lynn

Celebrating Mexican Style

Posted by Chris and Rachel Thomas on Thursday, August 27th, 2009

dsc02111We were able to celebrate Chris’ birthday mexican style this year! Our wonderful neighbors contacted a local mariachi that came and entertained us for an hour.  It was a great cultural experience! We invited a variety of our friends here to come share in the celebration. Our neighbor cooked a huge pot of  one of Chris’ favorite Mexican dishes called pozole. It has pork and hominy in a chili colorado sauce. You eat it with bread or tostadas. Chris take a "bite"For dessert we had Tre Leches cake. The tradition here is for the birthday person to take a “bite” of the cake. All is all, it was a birthday celebration that will not be forgotten!
