Pogpasalamat (Thanksgiving)

Posted by Chris and Lynne Strange on Sunday, October 3rd, 2010

from Ben 090It’s Thanksgiving in the village!

We received a message from the village about this weekend’s feast to celebrate God’s provision for them through the recent harvest. It’s a great time of fellowship as families from all over the jungle gather in our village. They told us they are disappointed we will not be with them. They prayed for the repairs on the airplane to be completed so we might join them but we are all waiting for those answers in His time. We would so love to be there!

It’s such an exciting time!  Slaughtering, cooking, laughing, eating and playing fills the whole day. A beautiful time of worship and praise to God with singing, sharing and fellowship follows all night. I can hear all the sounds and enjoy the smells just thinking of these times past! (more…)

Prayer for Kisi and Tibun

Kisi and family Will you pray for our friends?

This is a picture of our friends and co-workers in the village. The man is an amazing Bible teacher and youth leader in the village church.

It’s been a rough year for them. Just like families the world over, our tribal friends deal with the very real issues and heartache when their children turn away from what they know about God and live their lives in rebellion.

Coming down to Earth

Winging Back across the Globe

Winging Back across the Globe

As global missionaries, we get to spend a fair bit of time looking at things from the vantage point of this photo. We recently returned to the Philippines, traveling high above the earth where everything outside seems so pristine and far removed from the problems that we know are below. I can imagine that is the reason birds just soar – for the sheer fun of it, just because they can – to leave the dirt below.  I am pretty sure that is what makes birds so arrogant.

We are are learning much. God has carried us to some pretty divine highs. Knowing us as He does, He manages just the perfect balance between these and the ‘flat on our face’ moments that He weaves into our lives, bringing us into just the place He would have us. We so thank Him for bothering with us at all! (more…)

We are saying ‘good-bye’ to wonderful friends and co-workers here in the Philippines. Our fellow missionaries from Summer Institute of Linguistics (SIL) in the area of aviation have been a major support in getting us and our supplies into our remote locations on both the big islands of the Philippines. They are the ones who have served the Lord and us in emergency medical flights for missionaries as well as the tribal people we live among and work alongside. It is with GREAT appreciation that we pray for each of the families that will soon leave the Philippines for service elsewhere. We thank God for them and we will miss them greatly. We say ‘welcome’ to New Tribes Mission Aviation pilots, mechanics and their families! In His perfect timing, God is building up the flight program here in the Philippines.

Completely MOFFIT!

Neo

We just received the wonderful news that our grandson, Neo, is soon to get a new birth certificate showing his last name as Moffit!

Josh and Belinda Moffit, missionaries working with the Tala Andig tribe, allow us to be grand parents of their three delightful children. God gave Neo to them through adoption and we have  prayed and cried and agonized with them through the long adoption process. Praise the Lord with us as you read their own words below:

Chris suitcaseWE ARE JUST GETTING USED TO:

*  the cooler weather of FLORIDA before heading up northward into the frozen tundra :-)  We have meetings here and a relaxing all expenses paid R&R trip with family (thank you Lord and Doris and Rick!) Please pray for those meetings as they have been delayed because those with whom we’d meet are helping out in Haiti.
