first measurement of curl...a good start
Surgery over, physical therapy has begun with Chris carefully following the instructions from surgeon and therapists. We praise the Lord for such progress so quickly. His hand has been stiff for so long and we are told it will be a long recovery, but we thank the Lord for the encouraging progress after only two days!
Chris began therapy less than 24 hours after surgery and is happy with the progress. We praise the Lord thinking back on how He worked this appointment into our stateside time. It wasn’t in our plans initially but we praise the Lord for opening the doors.
Back when Chris first injured his hand, a missionary friend emailed an address of his classmate, who happened to be a hand surgeon. We contacted Dr. Cross and emailed pictures and video of the hand. He prayed with us for healing and encouraged us through email after the second surgery to reattach the tendons.
When Dr. Cross learned we were in the states these few months, he offered to examine the hand if we were passing close to Ohio. Our speaking schedule was arranged last year with no thought of coming for an exam. Upon checking the route, we were indeed driving close by for one of our mission conferences, so we stopped meet him, thank him in person and see what he thought about the restricted function of the hand. At the end of the consult we were ready to leave when I blurted, “What about the time needed for surgery here in the states? Would you consider operating on his hand before we return?”
It was not an idea we had talked about or even prayed about – the question simply burst out of my mouth. Dr Cross felt there would be time so we decided to pray about it and God answered, surgery scheduled and performed and now we are in Ohio for Easter and physical therapy.
Thank you Lord for caring about all the details of our lives and helping us through this. And to Patrick and Jenn, Dr. Cross, Nash and Jessica for your part in helping Chris regain function in his left hand.
