December 2011 News

Only our Lord could promise thousands of years ago that He would send a Savior, a Man Child who would destroy Satan and his power over our sinful race. Only the Lord could send a Savior two thousand years ago who destroyed Satan there in the land of Israel at Mount Calvary. Only the Lord could keep believers announcing for two thousand years to the world that the Savior came and is desirous of giving each one life eternal. Only the Lord has that much love!

We thank you for allowing the Lord to interest you in this ministry of translation on behalf of the Portuguese speaking missionaries. We have so few years to be privileged with this responsibility. Part of the task is to pray for one another. We need our Lord’s help each day. Prayer is powerful because the Lord is.

Last month we all called on Him to use the Extreme Camp in Peniel Bible Institute to raise up laborers for the fields. Over 160 students from all over Brazil came. The Lord used the story of the unreached Zóe people group to raise up 25 new laborers. Most of these are young High School graduates who will most likely begin their 4 to 5 year missionary training within a few years.

How is the translation team doing? PauloEPatricia  In November Paulo and Patrícia Tezzei joined our team. Patricia translated 6 lessons, but now they are headed to the Yanomami tribal work which they have given their lives to.  Fábio and Simone Marzarotto have been invited to work in their local church since the pastor has gone to work in Africa. Simone desires to keep helping our team from their new home in Santa Catarina.Thiago and Letícia Ishy are getting ready to do their last course of missionary training and linguistics and will be travelling in January, out where we taught for 9 years. He wants to format a good group of lessons of Volume 2 before they leave. He hopes to continue while out there. Pércio and Tânia Coutinho are being asked to move up to the mission’s main office in Anópolis. He is being asked to participate in leadership of New Tribes of Brazil. Robson and Emilia Abreu continue doing Rep work. Emilia is still helping by translating. Rejaneide Monteiro is still on the team. Gwen and I are mainly watching the Lord bring folks our way so as to keep this task going.Thank you so much for your fellowship. Volume 2 is composed of 70 evangelistic lessons from Genesis to the Ascension of our Savior. We have reached lesson 22. Only 14 volumes after this one!

We are grateful for your kind participation. The Lord loves to burden our hearts and then use us to be a part of a team of His children, active in sharing the Good News.

From Japan to Brazil

Posted by Calvin and Gwen Taylor on Monday, November 7th, 2011

Soon after W W II a Buddhist family from Japan, called Ishy, immigrated to Brazil. Later, their son, Tomita, became a believer and together with his girlfriend came to study at the Brazilian Bible Institute where Gwen and I were working.  The couple married, finished the three training institutes and then proceeded to a tribal work.  On a furlough time while they were in southern Brazil, Tomita was in a fatal car accident and in which his wife and two daughters were severely injured.  Their son, Thiago (James,) who was twelve at the time, was not in the car.
In our last letter we presented  Thiago as one who is part of our translation team.  How thankful we are for this second generation missionary. After completing his university training, he entered New Tribes Mission Bible Thiago e LeticiaInstitute where,  after completing the course, he has been teaching for the last two years.  He just recently married Leticia, and they are faithfully serving at the Bible Institute.
Right now they are helping to organize a large “Extreme Camp”, November 12-15, for the purpose of challenging high school and college age young people with the need for missionaries to do tribal evangelism.  In January, Thiago and Leticia plan to continue the two remaining phases of training, trusting the Lord to direct them into some area of reaching tribal people.  They will appreciate your praying for them.

Thank you for your partnership with us.

Yours to reach the unreached!

Change of Ministry

Greetings in the Lord’s name. Our hearts are full of gratitude for your participation in prayer for our family.

After having served the last twelve years as a South East Regional Representative, we are now changing ministries to work full time with the Brazilian NTM translation team. Our new department is called the Portuguese Language Resource. Since 1989 I have been involved in this work “on the side.” Just recently the main series that we translated in the early 90’s has been revised, so we hope to see this new series done for our Brazilian co-laborerBooks1and2-ProjectOnes. There are also hundreds of documents in English that will make the work of tribal church planting so much easier for the Portuguese speaker. So, we are back to helping full time the Brazilian missionaries.

Although we will continue to live here in Knoxville, our time in churches and colleges will be diminished but we will still have the same objective: Finding and encouraging folks to live wholeheartedly to reach the people groups who have never understood the message of the Word of God. We are so thankful to the Lord for the opportunity we have had of being a Representative.

The Lord has supplied once again for our June trip to Brazil. Gwen and I will care for my mom, and we hope to do a lot of corrections on the Volumes I and 2 (730 pages) of the series mentioned above. We would surely appreciate your intercession before the Lord as we do these two “things” that are always requiring the Lord’s wisdom and supply of health.

Yours in Christ Jesus,

September/October News

2nd Flight of the Tribesman The Second Flight of the Tribesman- Arriving in Belem, Brazil on August 1, 1949.

Carl and Cora Taylor and their daughters Carleen and Beth (7 & 2), and son Calvin (5) arrived in Brazil ready to help reach the Unreached Tribes. Sixty years later we are all still at it. Dad is in glory, and Hudson, born in 1950, has taken his place. Dad was always speaking to the importance of a World Vision to every Christian he would meet. So our vision has increased and our hearts are stayed on the Lord for His Glory to be spoken of in all the world. Two thousand five hundred languages to go. Mom still passes that challenge on there in Peniel to pastors, believers, and new born babes in Christ. Peniel Bible College’s students are among them when visiting her up on the hill. She will get up and be bright eyed for anyone looking for encouragement.

It has been sixty years of partnership with those who have had the same vision and we thank the Lord for His love in giving us co-laborers, sacrificing year after year. Pastors have been faithful and their people encouraged to participate in all respects. Thank you dear ones. Herman Miller is one who has been at this with us since 1954.

My task the third week of September was a trip to Bryan College to represent NTM to the students.  On the 20th I travelled up to Lynchburg to do the same, but this time with my sister Carleen and her husband Ken Newton.  The Lord used Ken to challenge the Director of Missions while we were in college in the mid 60’s.

My dear Gwen needs prayer for her ministry of teaching each day at Berean Christian School. She accompanies me on some meetings like the one to Tennessee Temple University where they started the Next Steps program and the one we just returned from at Liberty U. during the third weekend of October, mentoring prospective missionaries.

November 8-11 will be four days of intense ministry at a local church here in Knoxville. They have shown themselves to be disciples of the Lord in regards to missions. John and Barbara Windler from Paraguay will be there with us. Thank you for praying for us.

Be sure to sign up for the mission’s daily requests at  www.NTM.org/pray and read the News Items to the right on your screen.
