My Little Lady

Posted by Brian and Bailey Pruett on Friday, February 4th, 2011

I just had to take a moment to brag about my little lady today. Today is a flight day which means I am on the radio and can pretty much pay NO attention to Maycie at all.  She knows that when the radio is on, she can’t be near me; but she is still a two-year-old so that is often a challenge for her.  Today, though, she was abnormally quiet.  When I finally had a spare second to listen for her, the quiet kind of made me a little nervous. So as soon as I knew Brian was safe, I went out to find Maycie and to see what had made her so quiet. That’s when I found this:

I sure love this girl…

Time to Party!

I know that I don’t write very often, but let’s just face it…Brian is the writer in the family and I just end up babbling my way through posts – which is probably what I’ll end up doing this time too. But, I was overwhelmed by something today and felt like maybe I should share it, even if it does make me look like the worst missionary ever. (more…)

One Step Closer to Flight

Last weekend Brian drove with a truck full of tools and construction supplies to the tribe where our airplane is still tied down and guarded. It has sat in the jungle for over a month. He arrived just as it was getting dark and hiked down to the village in the rain on a slippery red clay trail. For those of you who have ever hiked the steep route on Bishop’s Peak in San Luis Obispo it’s a lot like that…only on “ice…and in the dark…and in the jungle.” (more…)

A Little Incident

We got help from the people in the tribe with securing the airplane until we can get an engine and propeller from the States to install. This is likely the place we'll be doing the work.

We have been working at full throttle the last few months in the flight program on Mindanao. We have been really excited to see first hand the work the Lord is doing among tribal people here in all our locations and how their love for the Lord compels them to reach out to neighboring tribes. It is an exciting time and we were just ramping up into a fully functioning program when things came to a screeching hault. (more…)

The Newest Pruett Addition

Posted by Brian and Bailey Pruett on Sunday, April 4th, 2010

No, we didn’t have the baby yet…but we did get a dog! Her name is Maggie – a two-month old, black lab – and she’s precious! If you know Brian and I at all, you would know how funny it is that we have a dog…and that we actually like her. We don’t have a clue what to do but we are excited to have her!

We decided that we needed to get a dog for a few reasons. First, and most importantly I think, we need a good guard dog. I know, I know, labs are about the sweetest dogs you can find – that was one reason we wanted a lab. But also labs are big and Maggie is black – both of which are terrifying traits to the people here. It doesn’t matter how nice the dog – if she’s big and black she’s very scary and they won’t come near her! So, she’s a guard dog. Secondly, Maycie LOVES the dog we are “borrowing” until his owners return from furlough in August. So come August we’ll be dogless again and we thought it would be fun for Maycie and soon-to-arrive baby boy to have a dog of their own.

Please pray for us! She’s a cutie but LOTS of work!

Just a Side Bar

Posted by Brian and Bailey Pruett on Thursday, January 14th, 2010

We rely very heavily on email these days to help you stay in-touch and involved in our ministry. Because of this we have added a side bar, “Join the List,” to our website to help us stay in touch. Would you take a minute to fill in the blanks to make sure we have your latest information? Thanks so much!  You are as much a part of this ministry as we are – we’re just the team members that wake up to the sounds of roosters and pigs every morning.

Social Networking

Have you ever read a news article from an NTM missionary that you wish you could share with your friends? It is now easy to share news from NTM missionaries on Facebook and other social networking websites. All you have to do is look for the "share" link at the top of each article. Clicking on this link will show a list of supported websites you can use to share news stories.

Just choose the network of your choice (Facebook, Yahoo, Google, etc.) and it will take you to your account and insert links and pictures from the NTM article. You can edit the way the posting looks on your site, and publish it.

I wouldn’t imagine that much of our news is worth publishing on your site, but if you surf around other news articles >>Click Here<< there are some amazing tribal stories that would encourage many people who may not normally venture onto a New Tribes website.
