NTM Paraguay has a Team dedicated to the care and education of missionary kids. In August, they invited the parents of elementary age children to an Education Camp for 3 days! We made the 5 hour journey and were greatly blessed and refreshed. While our children enjoyed camp, we spent hours of fellowship with Mike’s sister and family and the other missionaries there.
Education Camp was a highlight for our three children as they grew not only in greater knowledge of Medieval Times, but also in the Word of God.
On the final day, we all had a “strange meal” together based on foods and customs of old.

Our group with the missionaries from the village: Left to Right: Emile (Del's language helper), Angie, Wendy, Rebekah, Silas, Arielle, Del, Ezra, Eric, and Norbert
Guess where we were this week? The VILLAGE!!!!!
We spent the last four days traveling and visiting two different villages in southern Senegal! Wow how to sum up all that we experienced?! It began with a 10 hour car ride, of which the kids did great; except for Ezra being so car sick the first two hours that we had to pull over three times; no more explanation is needed.
Pulling off the main road we weaved through green countryside (oh, that did our eyes good to see so much green!) on a dirt road. After half an hour we arrived at the first village where we stayed for two nights. (more…)

However, I consider my life worth nothing to me, if only I may finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me–the task of testifying to the gospel of God’s grace. Acts 20:24

During our nearly two week trip to our future ministry location Sharon and I visited five Phu Thai villages that we’d never been to, interviewed over 100 villagers to test their reading comprehension and were able to meet with several key missionaries working in the area. It was productive… but tiring. That came on the heels of our latest language evaluation which was helpful, productive, but also tiring. There’s no rest for the wicked however as events move on apace. We’re in a packing/ preparing phase as there are many things to think about before we head home to the US in a few short weeks. More details will follow soon in our June newsletter. God bless and thank-you for standing with us. -Ric and Sharon

Is Jesus just a religious idea? A philosophy? A good luck charm? Or is He a real person; a being who desires a relationship with mankind on a personal level? This question came up over and over on our trip to the Philippines. Though photos, images, amulets, posters, and statues of Jesus abounded we learned from the missionaries on the ground working in the Philippines that few people really know who Jesus is. It was certainly a shock going from Chiang Mai surrounded by the images of Buddhism to Manila surrounded by the images of Christianity… and on the other hand it wasn’t.
We met at least one family, however, for whom Jesus is more than an empty image. Kenneth Pablina and his family are obeying Jesus’ command to “go into all the world” and are trusting God to provide for their needs as they seek to serve Him in… Thailand! God is good. Kenneth and his family do not typically attend the church we attended on Palm Sunday in Manila but they were there this week. It was an incredible blessing to spend time getting to know his family and we are praying we will see them here in Chiang Mai soon.

Kenneth Pablina and I
Please join us in praying for the Pablina family and for fellow missionaries working in the Philippines. -Ric and Sharon
