Update
We have had an exciting and busy year so far and things don’t seem to be slowing down. It is a blessing to be filling a need which assists missionaries directly on the field. This past spring semester, we had 9 tech interns who took the extended tech training with us. They were kept busy 40 hours a week learning many valuable skills in solar system repair, construction, and mechanics. They will use these skills to serve other missionaries on their fields.
At the end of May, we took a trip up to Michigan and Ontario to speak in two supporting churches and visit with supporters and family. Soon after returning to the Tech Center, NTM’s annual Enrichment conference was held on our campus. This is a time when all furloughing missionaries gather for a week of meetings and fun. Our staff hosts this event most summers. This is always a great time of fellowship, and also a time to meet with missionaries seeking technical advice.
The following week we spent moving into a larger apartment on the campus to accommodate our second baby girl arriving in September. With a new baby coming soon, Jody will be taking time off from her ministry at the Tech Center to raise our girls.
In July, Benjamin spent a week at a youth camp our church organizes each year. He managed the sound board for the meetings and was blessed to be part of that outreach. Over 100 teenagers attended and God worked in many of their lives.
As time permits, Benjamin will be attending a local university where he will take classes towards his masters in Electronics and Computer Engineering. This additional education will be valuable as Benjamin continues to serve as a tech consultant.
The latest project that Benjamin has been working on is a hydro-electric system for a missionary in Indonesia. In the photos shown, he is testing the pump and equipment before sending it overseas.
Spring is here!
Wow, we are so happy for a beautiful spring here in Missouri. Elianna loves being outdoors as much as we do. We are finding that springs in Missouri can be very wet and rainy!
I (Benjamin) will be completing my Missionary Training next week, and am looking forward to focusing full time on working at the Tech Center. Summers are always a very busy time for the Tech Center, we are looking forward to assisting as many missionaries as possible.
Blessings from the Lord
I (Benjamin) have been busy lately trying to keep up with classes, working at the Tech Center, and the outreach I am involved with at a local group home for troubled kids. I am excited that my classes will be over in May. This past week I was sick, but I was able to listen to the classes I was missing over the campus intranet.
Jody is enjoying being a mother and taking care of Elianna. Jody is able to continue working at the Tech Center. She just brings Elianna along with her and Elianna sits and watches Jody work.
We are looking forward to warmer weather. Having grown up in Sothern California, and Jody in Senegal, we are not very accustom to cold weather. When I wake up and see that it is 10 deg F out and the high temp is only going to be 34, it just puts a frown on my face. But then I remember to thank the Lord that He has given us a nice warm house, and so may other blessings!!
Elianna Lynette Baum
Benjamin and Jody
Baum are proud to announce the birth of their daughter Elianna Lynette Baum! She was born on December 8, 2009 at 3:23 AM. She weighed 8lbs 9ozs, and was 20 1/2 inches long. She is doing very well. Jody was in labor for 27 hours before it was determined that a C-Section was necessary. Jody is resting well, but is very sore. Praise the Lord for His wonderful gift!!!
Baby Watch!
Jody and I are excitedly waiting for our new baby, she is due on the 23rd of November. However, we are thinking she might be late. Jody is doing well, and is still working at the Tech Center. We have not picked a name yet; we will probably choose a name after she is born.
Please keep Jody in prayer that God will give her strength, and a safe delivery.
Pray for Guinea
Please pray for Peace and Open doors to the Gospel in Guinea! We received this update from our friends in Guinea.
Conakry has remained calm and life is continuing its normal course. The President of Burkina Faso is trying to bring the parties together and acting as mediator to bring about the best solution possible in this volatile situation. Foreign embassies are advising their citizens to leave the country unless their presence is needed.
