First Day!

Well, today was the first day of school! This year Nate, Syd, and Alec are in school all day at a wonderful Christian school! It’s hard to believe our family is at this stage in life! I remember people telling me, “they grow up so fast.” They truly do. I’m excited to see what the Lord has for them in their lives and am cherishing the “little” time I have left with them. A little note to teachers… thank you for teaching our kids! I am very thankful for the teachers that put their time into our kids, teaching them, especially about the Lord and how to know Him more!

Family

Welcome to our blog! We are currently missionaries with New Tribes Mission. We are ministering at one of NTM’s Bible colleges in Waukesha, WI. Going on our 6th year we have counted it a privilege to be a part of these young peoples lives. It is so exciting to see young men and women grow in their relationship with the Lord.

Mozambique, Africa

Flying into Africa

As many of you know Nathan and I had the wonderful privilege of going to Mozambique, Africa in April. We went to visit my brother DJ, sister in law Tricia, and Garret and Avery my nephew and niece. What a wonderful time we had together. We were able to see Garrett and Avery’s school. We were able to go to the beach. We saw an old Portuguese fort built in the 1500s, on Mozambique Island. We caught crabs, saw jellyfish and many more exciting things. All that to say it was quite the adventure.

Although it was an adventure it was a great time of encouragement and reflection for me personally. A time of encouragement to see God at work outside of the USA. The evidence of God building His church is plain to see there. A time of reflection as I recognized how good we have it back at home and how often I loose sight of the Great Commission. As I thought about it more two things really stuck out to me. The first was DISCIPLESHIP. I was reminded that the Great Commission is about making disciples. We can do that in two ways which are communicating Christ and modeling Christ. Am I doing that? Am I talking about what Christ is doing and has done in my life to my friends, family, and neighbors as well as am I modeling him in my actions? If not I need to be. The second thing that really stood out to me is that we definitely live in the Land of Opportunity. Although it is the Land of Opportunity are we using these opportunities for our benefit or for furthering Christ’s Commission? Are we realizing that God has given us great opportunity in order for us to make greater impact? For me personally I realized that I haven’t been thinking that way. I have simply been enjoying my free country, enjoying my Bible in my language, enjoying my financial stability, enjoying a healthy family, enjoying my house, car the list goes on. Although I realize we should all enjoy God’s blessings and I do, I also believe that one of the reason He has blessed us so much is for us to use our resources to further the Great Commission. Going to Mozambique has been such a good reminder to keep my focus on Eternity.

Ben teaching Biblical Foundations

Ben is teaching Biblical Foundations for the first time this sememester here at NTBI. This is a freshman class that is an overview of the Bible. It is three weeks long. He is very excited to be able to have this opportunity.
