Here’s Our Team!
For several years now (dating back to our time in the New Tribes training in Jersey Shore, PA and then also in Missouri) we have been asking the Lord to provide a good team for us to join in this effort to take the Gospel to a tribe of people who are still unreached.
We are very joyful, thankful and praising the Lord that He has recently answered that prayer!!!

Agnes
The picture here doesn’t mean much to the vast majority of people in the world. But for a small group of people in the Gende tribe tucked away in the rugged mountains of PNG, it means the world – it is a portion of God’s Word in their language! One of those Gende people is a young woman named Agnes.

Pilots and Mechanics Needed in PNG – Yesterday!!
Before we give any more details, will you stop and pray that the Lord would move in the hearts of pilots, mechanics and other aviation-minded folks to come serve the Lord in PNG?
Okay, now on to the details.

Off to Prison
Every few weeks we pack up our kids, some food, and other necessary items and head off to prison. And we all love it! The rickety bridge we have to cross to get there sometimes makes our hearts beat a little faster, though.

God Answered – Now What?
We serve an amazing and loving Lord who cares about the things that concern His children!! Many of you have been praying for us about the decision regarding joining a tribal team that we have been investigating over this past year. Thank you, thank you, thank you!! We have seen the Lord clearly answer those prayers!! But not exactly in the way that we (and maybe some of you) expected.

July 2011 Prayer Requests
We recently sent out a report to our supporting churches which included some current prayer requests. We wanted to share them on here as well. If you pray for us, would you talk to the Lord about the things mentioned below?
- The decision about joining a tribal team. We have shared in the past few months that we are investigating the newest tribal work in our region and are asking the Lord to show us if this is the team we should join. We will be meeting with the team again at the beginning of August. Would you please pray for clarity and unity for all of us as we meet together? We are also praying that God would give us a clear “yes” or “no” so that we can move ahead – either with plans to move into this tribe or begin thinking of other options.
- For our support needs. We are praying that the Lord would provide the balance of our needed monthly support either through new churches and individuals or through an increase in giving from some of our current financial partners. As we look ahead to moving into a tribe (quite possibly one that is accessible only by helicopter), our monthly expenses will increase.
- For more laborers for the harvest field of Papua New Guinea. In our region alone there are at least 70 unreached tribal groups. There is so much need as well as opportunity to serve, but there are not many new missionaries coming. Besides tribal church planters, the need is great for teachers, maintenance workers, administrators, nurses… the list of those needed to support the tribal works could go on.
- For wisdom as we interact with our friends and neighbors in the surrounding villages as well as with our fellow missionaries. The longer we are here in PNG, the more we learn about this culture and what the people think!! Almost every day situations arise for which we need much wisdom to respond in culturally appropriate ways.
- For health and safety for our family. We are living in a country with very poor medical care/facilities. Any serious illness or injury would require an expensive trip to Australia. Please pray for the Lord’s protection so that we can continue to serve Him here.
Thank you for partnering with us through your prayers. We appreciate you!!
Waiting…
Do you like to wait? Most people would probably answer a resounding “no” to that question. Even though we often see the value or benefit that results, waiting for something that you are really looking forward to is often hard.
Well, we are in a waiting phase right now. For any that are new to reading this blog and as a recap for the rest of you, here’s a short history of the past few years for our family.

Mom, get me out of this thing!!!
Here in PNG, just about anything can be carried in a bilum (string bag) – vegetables, firewood, pigs, babies… and lots more!
