Teaching Missionary Kids in Asia Pacific

About

I believe God has called me specifically to minister in the area of MK Education. There are so many challenges that face our missionaries on the field, and providing a quality education for their kids can be difficult. After hearing of the need for teachers in so many areas, and hearing stories of families that had to leave the field because there was no workable solution for educating their kids, I realized that I could help meet that need.

I left a career in software development to pursue a teaching credential, and then in 1994 I moved to Papua New Guinea where I taught missionary kids for 12 years. My teaching ministry helped many families as they served to expand the reach of the gospel in Papua New Guinea. During that time I gained valuable experience as a teacher and learned more about the unique challenges faced by our MKs and their families.

Now I am beginning a new adventure as I have switched to a new field in Asia Pacific, where I continue to be involved in MK education. Our field is growing, with many young families, lots of kids, and not many teachers or schools. My heart is to serve our missionary families by helping with educating their children, both by teaching in our mini-school and providing support for those who are home-schooling.

My time of formal language study is over, and I have already begun teaching. It is a privilege and honor to be able to serve the Lord and share in the work of reaching the people of Asia Pacific with the gospel.
