6/4/10 This memento reminds us of God’s faithfulness to provide whatever we need. During our 4 years of training, the Lord provided three vehicles for our family. The first one was given to us for $1 during our first semester of Bible school in 2005! It was a ’94 Nissan Pathfinder, and the Lord used it to help keep us in Bible school (we sold our Dodge Neon to pay our school bill). The Pathfinder lasted four years, up until the week we returned to the MTC for another semester of training, Fall ’09.
The Pathfinder was no longer safe to drive (because of rust), but we knew God was leading us back into the training. So, by faith, we traveled to Missouri without a vehicle to transport our family of 4, soon to be 5. However, the Lord knew this would happen, and provided ahead of time enough support for us that month so that we could afford plane tickets! This all happened the week we had to leave for Missouri!
The first 24 hours in Missouri, someone who heard about our situation offered us a car for free! We were amazed! But, it didn’t last long as the transmission failed. But, late September, just a few weeks later, a family donated a car to our school to give to a family in need- and we were that family! We drove the Ford Taurus Station Wagon with the confidence that as we place our feet on the path of God’s leading, He will set a sure footing for our steps! For $1, our family had the privilege of owning three vehicles for the purpose of getting through training. We recently passed the Taurus onto to another as we prepare to head to Thailand- and God continues to show us that He is with us: whether by plane, train, or automobile, He will get us where we need to be.
