New Photographers
Say hello to our new photographers! Our boys are learning to take snazzy pictures of our journey in Thailand. We hope you enjoy seeing the world through their eyes (and creative genius).
We plan to use the photos they take for our studies in the language and culture, as well as to share with you.
Why are we entrusting the boys with such a great responsibility? There are several reasons. First and foremoest, we’re a family, and a TEAM- they’re not just our kids, they truly are our co-workers. They boys are a vital part of who we are, what we do, and what God plans to do through our family. Having them has been such a blessing in building relationships with others.
Second, it can get kind of boring for them while we’re out if they don’t have something to do- alas, now they have a pretty cool job!
Third, discipleship starts now! Our boys are learning more and more about the Lord as we read His Word together, and they have much to learn about their need for a Savior. But the process of training them in areas of responsibility, faithfulness and interdependency starts now!
Here are some of the photos they took recently on a culture outing:

Waiting to Go… But not to Pray
We’re looking forward to being in Thailand by the end of the summer, but as we wait to ‘go’, we’re not waiting to pray! Join us today in praying for the hearts of the Thai people to receive the Word of God.
For those who sit in darkness;
For those enclosed by night;
Let us pray that God would break the dark
And usher in the Light.
Their eyes are ever blinded;
Their vision ever dim;
Awake, O LORD, their minds to Christ;
To find their hope in Him.
Coming Down the Stretch
We’re back in California and we’re coming down the stretch before heading overseas. Much has changed in the last four months. Here’s a brief glimpse of what’s been happening:
- In August, we headed to Missouri to finish up our church planting training. However, a few days before we were scheduled to leave, our car went kaput! We chose to go ahead and fly to Missouri to finish the training, even though our family of four (and soon to be five) would be without a car. We had no idea what was coming next!
- In September, the Lord laid it on someone’s heart to donate a vehicle to us, a gift which has been a blessing to our growing family and our faith in God’s promise in Matthew 6:32-33 which says, “Your heavenly Father already knows all your needs, and he will give you all you need from day to day if you live for him and make the Kingdom of God your primary concern.”
- In November, after the discovery of Dante’s food allergies, our ministry direction changed from West Africa to Thailand. We are now planning to live and serve in Thailand, immersed in the Thai language and culture, by June 2010.
- In December, baby Kobe was born during the final week of training. Once classes were completed and Em’s doctor gave us the ‘go-ahead’, we packed the car and headed West, arriving in time to spend Christmas with family.
Now we are thrilled to be back in the Golden State with our home church family and our parents, siblings, friends and relatives. As 2009 ends and 2010 begins, our eyes and hearts are focused on one thing: being faithful and diligent in the moment. Life is a walk- and Christ calls us to take each step by faith in Him. Jesus Christ is amazingly and stunningly faithful to His Word, to His Father, and to His people. It is by His grace and mercy alone that we have the privilege of being in His family, as adopted children of His dear Father. Pray for us that we would walk in a manner worthy of the One who loved us and gave Himself for us. Faithful is He who has called us- from the beginning to the end- He is good, and He does good.
