Cold in England
It is very cold here this week, we are cut off today in North Cotes and we have had power cuts last night and today. I was writing my Christmas cards sitting under the emergency lighting by the front door last night! Andrew was lost without facebook and telephone contact. The power is back on now obviously- we hope it stays on!
Ballot results in IC are very slow in coming out, causing problems in the cities we hear, rumors abound and trouble is brewing. We pray on for that beloved place.
Sunny Spain
Allan and I have just been to a conference, the nice thing was that it took place in Spain- yay. Very nice, and Ryan Air even took us there cheaply! We learned a lot about Leadership Skills and Cultural Awareness- all good stuff
We are much in prayer for the Ivory Coast these days- the big date to remember is November 28th please, there are only two candidates in a run-off. We trust it will be peaceful.

Ivory Coast Trip – 2010
We are back from our four week trip to the Palaka village where we lived and worked between 1988-2002. The trip went very well for the three of us with no one getting ill. The flights to Abidjan went well and we were met by Glenn & Linn Boese who work with World Venture.

Close to the end of the Autoroute
We spent a day and night in Abidjan before starting the journey north. It took us 13 hours to reach Ferke.

We spent the night with the Boeses and in the morning Verne Johnson drove out from the village to get us – what a reunion with the believers! It was awesome

Â
We slept under mosquito nets on airbeds in the Johnson’s house and ate our meal with them and all the people who worked for us too – rice and sauce just about every day. Andrew went out hunting with airgun or slingshot/catapult or else was playing football in the hot and humid weather. He saw four snakes while out in the bush, from his description it sounded like one of them was a Puff Adder – HUGE AND DEADLY! – thankfully it slithered away from him

Mandy spent a lot of her time organizing literacy classes and training literacy teachers.
Â
Â
Allan went through all the Chronological Lessons and tidied them up quite a bit – there was a lot of English still in them from when Steve & he taught back in 2000.

Due to the famine in the Palaka region it was necessary to purchase about $300/£200 of corn to distribute among 40 different families. We were also able to pay for 6 bulls to be given to 3 individuals in the church in a ‘Cow Project’ that will hopefully provide more food, more bulls for others and also more income for the individuals and also for the church. £75 was also given to purchase goats for a project that is being run by a ladies co-operative in the church. All these things were possible from gifts that were designated by people who gave to help the Palaka.
Â
The church in the village has had it’s ups and downs since we were last there several years ago; but it was VERY encouraging to see the church continuing faithfully to meet and reach out to others not only in their own village but also in two other Palaka villages a few miles away. Guys who when we were there were only 9 or 10 years old are now leading the meetings and praying; it really is marvelous how the Lord is working amongst the church thereÂ
Â
Denny Johnson is currently translating the book of Matthew but has over the last 3 or 4 years been translating Ruth and Jonah; we were able to have 50 copies of each printed and we took these out to give to the believers.
Graduation and Us Leaving
Well, the students here at the NTM European Bible and Missionary Training Center will all be graduating on July 23rd. This year has flown by. We will have 2 Graduation Banquets at the end of term, one for the Missions Course students and one for the Bible School students- we do two so that the two classes can babysit for each others’ children
The three German volunteers who help Mandy in the Nursery will leave too at the end of July- we still need another girl to volunteer to help us for the next school year yet. Germany requires that their young people do a ‘social’ year, it is a great blessing to us here at NTM. There are German volunteers in Brazil, PNG and maybe other places that I do not know about,  serving with NTM.
Our flight to Africa is on July 27th. That came around very quickly. We have had all the injections, we have visas, we have malaria meds and mozzy nets
The four weeks we will be there in the village where we used to live will go too quickly. Our co-workers Verne and Denny are out there already. They are due to leave 5 days before we do. It will be great to work together for a few sweet days out there. The books of Ruth and Jonah are printed and ready in a box by our suitcases
Please pray that the village believers will read them and be blessed. We REALLY value your prayers. God bless.
Happy Easter
Col 1 v 20 For God in all his fullness was pleased to live in Christ, and through him God reconciled everything to himself. He made peace with everything in heaven and on earth by means of Christ’s blood on the cross………So good. Thank you Lord
Plans are in place for the trip we are making to the Ivory Coast in summer. We have some of our paperwork already. Thank you for praying
Thanks so much for being willing to join with us in prayer!
We heard today that we here at NTM UK do [finally] have the official go ahead to apply as visa sponsors for overseas students [woo hoo], so please can you also pray that this sponsorship will be granted in time for new applicants to get visas for the Autumn term.
We [Allan, Andrew and Mandy] are also planning on going to the Ivory Coast for the month of August and would value prayer for all that is involved in making that trip too.
You know that during the last couple of summers we have indicated that there is an opportunity to help financially with medical needs, Bible translation, food projects and literacy materials, not to mention all the other things that life entails in Africa. This summer will be no exception. SO- if you would like to help at all- we would like to get that going now instead of leaving it until the last minute again!
If anyone would like to give to literacy, Bible translation, food needs, development projects, our travel costs and visas, or to medical needs that we will face- such as malnutriton care and teaching mothers of malnourished children how to feed their babies- then please send us an email about it- and any gifts can be sent to NTM Sanford with a note that is it for the Palaka Fund or for travel costs.

1 Th 2 13 Therefore, we never stop thanking God that when you received his message from us, you didn’t think of our words as mere human ideas. You accepted what we said as the very Word of God—which, of course, it is. And this Word continues to work in you who believe.
PS If anyone out there has a great idea for a development project that can really help village people [as opposed to town dwellers], please contact us.
Almost Christmas!
Hello!
Greetings from New Tribes Mission in North East Lincolnshire, where as a family we face only our second successive British winter since 1984. We trust all is well for you, we do thank you SO much for praying for us, and for the unreached people NTM works amongst.
 News from Ivory Coast:
The church in the village where we lived continues to meet together and grow. We are grateful to our co-workers Verne & Denny Johnson who have been able to return to the village each summer for the last three years to encourage and give more translated Scripture (Jonah & Ruth) to the believers for them to read and apply Scriptural truth to their lives. It is our (Mandy, Andrew & I) intention to visit the village in the month of August next year.
Our ministry here at North Cotes:
Mandy is continuing to enjoy serving in the nursery with Erla from the Faroes and three German volunteer girls. This year continues to be very different from last year and much more challenging. She enjoys her involvement with the student families.
As coordinator of the European Bible and Missionary Training Center, one of Allan’s responsibilities has been getting it accredited. This has taken well over a year so far and we have just heard that we have been given that accreditation. This is by no means the end of the process though; we have still to obtain a Sponsor Licence from the Home Office in order to be able to have non-European students for next year. We both are also tutors/mentors for 2 couples and a single lady on the missions course.
As the season of Christmas will soon be upon us we would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a Merry Christmas and trust that you will have many opportunities to give witness to the saving message of Christ to the lost around where you live.
A recent verse that has been a challenge to me is found in 2 Peter 3:1 ‘This is my second letter to you, dear friends, and in both of them I have tried to stimulate your wholesome thinking and refresh your memory.’
Love and thanks to you in Christ our Saviour,
Allan, Mandy and family.
